I'm assuming those pre-order items will become available after the release (for a price)? I really hate pre-order items but I hate missing out on content that should be included with the release. Reminds me of Rome 2 and the Greek City States DLC. What a waste that was.

When you buy it from the Paradox store you will get the key at release

In all honesty if I had known this before I bought from Paradox I would have stopped the order and gone straight to the steam store and got it that way...
So now I just got an email which only has my order number on it, and paradox gets to hold my money until release day earning interest while I have no steam key showing that I have actually purchased the game..

Can you give us a reason why paradox will not give us our steam keys now TotalyMoo? - It's not as if we can do anything with them, but at least we KNOW we actually have the game we paid for...

PS Edit: Maybe you should also get Paradox to change the wording on their store page, it states:

Important: a Steam code will be be delivered to your email upon purchase.

It's on Steam now, and count me as one who preordered the deluxe version there. There's no specific release date on Steam yet, but I've marked my calendar for March 10th.

noob question - Going through pre-order now. Where do I choose which OS type I want the game on or is that irrelevant as I get sent a key which I can use on which OS type I want?
For the mac version will it be available on the MAC app store or do I have to get it through Paradox or Steam? I have credit with the apple store so hoping to use that to buy it.

Lastly, If a serial is supplied how many times can you install the game with that serial. Eg. install on one device then wipe the device as I get a new one and install on the new device with the original serial?

I wasn't expecting the final footage (which I assume this is?) to have texture resolution as poor as the presumably-beta footage we were seeing in the dev diaries. I'm not saying I expected or wanted a game that required dual-SLI GTX 980's, but I'm a bit disappointed. I'm fine with them not having the resources to develop super-high-poly assets, but low-res textures are kind of a personal pet peeve.

This is certainly not something that makes me hesitate to pre-order a game seems awesome in the areas that really matter, but I do hope we seem visual refinement over time (though I know that's not the kind of updates we're likely to get from the game's ongoing development).

Also, are monuments a part of the regular game? Or are these 5 from the deluxe edition kind of a unique thing? If monuments are already in the game, you'd think such mainstream ones would already be included and the deluxe edition would offer some more esoteric ones.

I'll admit the page probably shouldn't say "delivered on purchase" during the pre-order period, but what's with the paranoia? I can't see that they've given us any reason to doubt that they'll really be releasing this game and sending out game keys. Paradox might not be EA, but they're an established publisher with lots of games; this is not some Kickstarter fiasco.

I gladly preordered this game. I can tell that there is a lot of love being put into it, so I have no doubts that it will be something special.
I also saved $20 by not buying Cities XXL, since I already own the previous version that is identical.

Looking forward to Cities Skyline. Loved Sim City 4 and this game is looking to be the upgrade to that finally. Haven't played a city builder in a long time. I don't count my time with SC2013 as that was pretty much wasted money.

Based on that. SC2013 has me in fear of doing a preorder again. I'm not to familiar with Paradox either but I'm reading decent things. I've followed CSL a little bit as it was being developed but not enough to make a jump for a preorder. Just wanted other opinions and what Paradox has planned for the game and if their word is good for it.
