Okay, so I'll be almost home by the time it's released. I guess I'll just have to wait a couple more hours than everyone to play it. It sucks that I can't use my train ride for that, but at least I don't have to feel extra bad about it.

I hoped the download could start at 6 o clock CET, so it can finish while I am at work. 3 in the afternoon means, I will be able to play it in the evening. :/
Not to be downer but 15:00 CEST is just an estimate, most paradox have an estimated release between 15:00-20:00 and the vast majority of PDS's new titles and dlc's get unlocked around 18:00ish (tho Paradox has no actual control over this, it's Steam that have to update their store)

At least it broke now instead on next Saturday/Monday. One week should be plenty to replace whatever failed

They sometimes release earlier or later too. Some CK2 expansions released early afternoon GMT/UTC. And good luck with the PC.
Actually not pre-loading sucks majorly.
All they need to do is allow Steam copies and copies bought directly from Paradox to pre-load. I can understand not allowing other retailers, but Steam and Paradox copies? C'mon. This is 2016 and a lot of our countries have crap internet connections unless you live in a major city or one of the nice tech countries. (Its funny because Germany only "discovered" the internet last year according to the Merkel and her New Land my german buddy was telling me about).
4gb will take some people I know literally over 12 hours because they live in the US in the country. Myself, about 2-4 hours depending.
Its 2016, just let Steam Store and Paradox Store copies pre-load.

They don't want to give too much of an advantage to Steam relative to the other stores. That ties the hands of Paradox Store too, unfortunately.
