Hi there,

quick question as this has never happened to me before but now happened 2 games in a row. It is basically as the title says. The Pre-Cursor system doesn't spawn connected to any of your systems. In fact it spawns several systems away surrounded completely by another empire.

Is this working as intended? I thought the system is supposed to spawn close if not directly next to your systems.

I'm pretty sure that the precursor planets all spawn in the galaxy on universe generation, and the events pop up within a certain distance of it. As a result you can sometimes narrow down where it will spawn, but it's not always guaranteed to generate next to you, you might have to go to war to get it.

There are multiple potential systems and the game is SUPPOSED to pick one at or close to your borders as far as I know.. but to my understanding it's still using warp-drive logic for this, which can cause it to be 'close'.. but at the far end of a chain of hyperlanes.

As I understand it, in the largest galaxies some 100+ systems are assigned to each of the six available precursors, and the home system has to be attached to one of those. @TheGrouch91, @supreme, what size galaxies were you in, and did you have to travel out a ways before you started getting precursor anomalies? Maybe the home system couldn't spawn any closer.

That's normal. I've had it spawn blocked off by an FE twice. If you reload to just before you finish the search it can spawn somewhere else. You can totally savescum until it appears next to your homeworld.

My last game (this morning) it spawned branched off of (luckily in my territory)... wait for it...

Well it is physically "close" to my border. If it indeed still uses warp drive logic it would make sense. But that's just silly in it's current form.

Just had the same issue with the First League home system.
AI does not know how to clear tileblockers there by the way.
Fought for it and finally got access to it after ~50 years. Already had my own ecumenopolis at that point though.

It doesn't use warp drive logic.

It makes a system between 10 and 50 distance units from one of your held precursor systems (if you have one). Since systems can be as close as 10 units apart by default, this can easily be a few systems deep into another empire's territory.

My mod (above) reduces the maximum distance to 20, which usually places the system within your borders.
