One of the things that sometimes turns me off HoI is having to assign leaders at the beginning of a game. I know some people prefer to do this themselves, so I have the following suggestion:

How about two sets of campaign files, one with leaders assigned, the other one with no leaders. That way you can jump straight into the game if you like.

I'd prefer historically assigned leaders in the beginning. Then, anyone can change leaders as they wish.

Me too. And I'd like it to be more difficult to change leaders. For example, in HoI 1, democracies get dissent when they change a minister. There's little point putting lots of poor leaders in the game if they are unemployable because everyone has perfect hindsight and can hire and fire at will. Perhaps the leader skills ought to be concealed by fog of war until they fight a battle?
