I have been wondering if players would find it beneficial to have some sort of (non-chirping) notification about power, water and sewer issues in particular. I would.

I sometimes find myself working for long periods on one part of a city, not realizing that part of the city I am not looking at is blacked out or has water/sewer issues.

I would not want anything too annoying. I had thought of a short electrical sounding "bzzzt" sound, and a water drip sound. Something like that. Nothing too obnoxious. A "chirp" gets lost in the low Signal-to-Noise ratio of the chirps.

Also highlighting the power or water buttons to draw one's attention?

As always, the option to enable/disable it should make everyone happy.

This would be very useful, especially if the notification highlights above the buildings turn red, right before abandonment.
