Hey guys, I have been playing Cities:Skylines for a week or so now and I am running into troubles with my power supply. After a while I am regularly reminded that I don't have any more oil or coal to fuel my power plants and I don't know how to get these resources or how to find another practical source of power. Have you ever had this problem? I would love to hear your advice.

Thanks a lot.

Luke

If you run coal/oil power plant, they will need to import the resources if you don't produce them.
Thus, if there is too much traffic between the outside and your power plants, it might not arrive in time.

Sounds like you need to solve your traffic problems around your power plants. Make sure they have an outside world connection (i.e. don't build them on a road island that isn't connected to anything else

^ Yup, pretty much this. But also, I would just suggest switching to solar power or the upgraded wind turbines or a dam etc... :)

Thanks guys for the advice.

I have worked out how to build highways and I think that it has solved my traffic issues for now, which has in turn helped my Power Plants.

Cheers for getting back to me.

It's more cost effective to not build oil or coal plants. If you get your wind plants in the high wind speed areas you can produce more power for less maintenance.

I don't know where the rest of our posts went but anyways, I will stick with renewable power plants for the mean time and if I have any more problems I will come back to here.

Thanks a lot.

Hey again. I am not having any power issues but most of my industry buildings have become abandoned over the last hour or so of play and I don't know why. My city has a population of about 5700 people atm and my education, health, transport and fire protection are all going well and my demand of housing and commercial are pretty normal. Do you guys know why this might be happening to my industry?

Thanks.

probably most of your young adults are going to school rather then working, and your educated cims will prefer jobs matching their education, and really whatever is closest to them after that. So they probably end up going to commercial or office zones instead of industrial zones. You need to try and make your industries happy so they can upgrade too and eventually support higher educated cims. Maybe temporarily have some extra residences.

I noticed to really keep industry happy you will need lots of fire stations, a rail yard, some parks, police station, maybe spread the industries out a little so you don't get a -100 pollution rating, a shipyard, well educated cims, and well managed traffic flows won't hurt either.

Thankyou for your advice Shiggs, my population is steadily increasing and I am finding other ways to employ my citizens apart from industry. I also have more parks, fire stations etc now and things are looking good for my city. Thanks again.

Regards, Luke.
