Alright, so I have begun the Holstein playthrough. 15 years in, successful Jacobite rebellion that releases me from Denmark. Now to find something small to pick up to get my extra state to become a great power. Thoughts?

EDIT: Decided I'd be opportunistic and take the last Moroccan State for my own for now and see what happens.

This is my first game of Victoria 2. I am a skilled EU3 player, but new to Victoria 2. I think I did pretty well, although from what I have read, Belgium is a pretty easy country. This is with the PDM mod btw.

I have a lot of scattered provinces because me, the UK, and Austria won a great war against France and dismantled their empire. Germany formed very late, around 1930 or so. I built the Suez Canal and Germany built the Kiel Canal, but no Panama Canal.

Canada broke down very early into the game. Soviet Union is blobbing like mad. Algeria was a Great Power for a while. There are many strange things I could point out in this game.

Alright, not quite Holstein -> NGF -> Germany, but I did get the Crown from the Gutter event, so it was Holstein -> Germany. I only annexed a small portion of the German Minors, it seems, but I have plenty of time as it's only 1865 now.

Holy crap. I was expecting you to get sphered then annexed by the NGF within a decade or so. I was hoping for a guns blazing kind of unification, but hey, a Germany is a Germany. Well done.

Well I originally only wanted Uruguay... but in the early 20's my Fascists did something that gave me a "Conquest" CB on Argentina. So I gobbled them up and they more than doubled my Population and gave me tons of soldiers. The same thing happend with Brazil later in the 20's.

That's a Communist CSA if I am seeing it right, and you're right, America and Australia need to get different colors. I was right there with ya thinking they were the same, until I saw that Australia is a tiny bit lighter.

Basically if one of the nations from one of the various cultural groups gets a Pan-Nationalist revolution and it is successful, they will offer a "Crown from the Gutter" to one of the other nations in its cultural group. Usually the most powerful one, but it seems that I got it instead of Austria (which was 5th place at the time, compared to me at 6th).

The 'Kingdom of America' flag for your game looks like it has a giant birthday-cake on it. Indeed, the 'fat jokes' literally started writing themselves once the lines looked like lit candles. Oh the hilarity.

Also, Australia is independent; you can see it as a secondary power on the finale screen (but bugger if I know what the difference is between the U.K. and their colonies, in any way making them distinguishable as 'powers' beyond semantics of geography).

After nearly a decade of fighting with the Prussians and having Spain at my side most of the time, here are some results of what happens when you add the free CB of Restore Order and Assert Hegemony on Prussia as a Holsteinian Germany. I can't say that it was very easy, but having Austria Hungary picking apart Germany and it's Spherelings at the same time did ease the process of fighting the Prussian armies.
