Just played my first 1.5 game.

- Finland loses the Winter war and is puppeted by USSR

- Baltics disappear in 1940 (a message about this would be kinda cool)

- Hungary does not go into the Axis (I've never seen them do this tbh)

- Bulgaria joins the Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere because...... vodka?

- GER decides that Panzers are overrated and launches Barbarossa in Jan 1941, using mainly INF through the M-R border and some through Romania, which are struggling to get supply.

- Both GER and Romania leave about 20-25 Divisions on the Hungarian border, just in case.

Needless to say, this is going nowhere, as the USSR can just park the bus on such a small front.

Have you seen something that resembles WW2 a bit more?

Not yet.... My first game worked out a bit skewy too. I was Machuko, a puppet of Japan and in a happy place. Germany lauched Barb in late 1940 and were promptly smashed to bits within 2 years. They didn't even get as far as Minsk. I am not going to play a major until a few 'balance' issues have been looked at, as I feel there is something not quite right at the moment. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but the historical game coudn't be further away from it. At least in 1.4.2 if you followed a reasonably historical path, you sort of knew what you were getting.

When playing historical in 2 games without participating in Europe, I saw the German army getting stopped much earlier that usual, the new AI seems better at closing gaps but not that good at piercing the enemy line. In a non historical game they went to Kiev, but only because the Soviet were at war with Japan and had next to nothing on their western border.

Playing as nationalist china germany conquered soviets, but now at war with the world with me in allies. War beteeen them was brutal slogfest though, with fronts not moving for first 3 years and soviets slowly got pushed all the way to urals by 46. Casualties on both sides were about 8mil and 17mil. Germany now has about 1k factories(1950) but they are scraping barrel with 1m mp so :)
