Wow, what a strange worldmap! Only 8 countries in Europe, and a totally messed up Central-America, South-America, India and South-east Asia. What mod is this?

By the way, I'm guessing Novgorod.

Only 8 countries in Europe

9 countries+1 vassal.

totally messed up Central-America, South-America, India and South-east Asia

Soon to be annexed natives. Mostly :)

What mod is this?

Divide et Impera. However, in the mod there are more countries event in Europe than in vanilla. Changing tags and starting wars is really powerful tool for shaping map :)

World Map

This is my current mp game with a friend (he is Bohemia) as Austria. First of all, we managed to destroyed France (!) and it was awesome. Also, note Castile in India and Britain in Northern Africa. Another thing is Muscovy in Asia, they fought China and they occupied most of China all the way to around it's border with India-Burma, but it seems they just asked for release of south-east asia and they got central asia. Another country to note is Georgia. They are allies with Muscovy and were successful and fighting off G.H., T.E. and others.

We are right now stuck because we will have to fight Castile, Britain, Rome or/and Lithuania sometime in the near future, and that will be a pain.

Here is a close up of the countries:

This is my game as Castile-> Spain (3.1) in 1820, my first full game after getting EU3. I have holdings in every continent, but deeply underestimated trading and fell considerably behind in technology meaning that I may very well have fallen apart in the coming years. Anyway the real superpower in the game is France who I have only saved my self from losing lots of land by leader of their alliance and later paying of Italy (alliance leader). Taking over all of Iberia and North Africa in the 1400s gave me an easy tax base and no competition in the New World, which was nice. By the way I have a BB of over 300, although the 5-10 BB wars actually helped me take more land like the American-British colonies.

1595 - The Knights

EU3_MAP_KNI_1595514_1.jpg

Initial game was attacking Granada and grabbing Gibraltar. Later grabbing Granada itself and selling it to Castille, and using the money to by a trading Empire. I had Malta defect to me, and then became leader of an Italian alliance (how, I have no idea, I only had 2k troops) against Naples, whom I took a territory from, and vassalised, later annexing. Took Ceuta, Tangiers and almost all of Aquila aswell. Then I colonised my way to the new world. Strangely, the Ottomans never attacked me once. They warned me a few years before I switched over, but no actual declaration of war. Though, being guarenteed by Castille did help. Then again, OE lead a PU with the Golden Horde for 50 odd years, so they had no shortage of military might, althugh that didn't stop them getting owned by England later on. I got a boundary dispute on Mayas capital and relocated there, selling all my European provinces except Malta and the Azores.

From then on, it was just colonisation and killing pagans. Though, I did use rebels to force-convert myself to Protestant . The colonist loss is annoying but with Colonial Ventures it really doesn't matter too much. The 10% production and tax bonuses hepled my income though.

The Brits gained several American provinces which I took, and Castille took much of the Acadia/Labrador/Newfoundland area, which I took in another colonial war (which gave me Madeira and the Baleares aswell from Portugal and Aragon, both provinces with Universities). Norway recently dared to think they could have a colony along the north Canadian coast, along with the Brits once again. They were allied, so I DoWd Norway, took that colony from them, aswell as Iceland, then grabbed the colonies from the Brits aswell as grabbing the Western Isles. Along the years, I also let them set up many Caribbean colonies, only to DoW and steal all of them when they reached 500 or so pop.

Aims from now on are to colonise the West coast (later the entirety of NA), and i'll probably end up wanting South America. I also aim to control the British Isles, and then launch a Crusade on Japan and Indonesia.

Strangely, the French have had 5 NIs now and haven't picked up GFTNW at all. Seems they were just content blobbing in Europe for the first 150 years. Also, those strange blue bits around Europe are pretty much all France. Rhodes (sold to em :p), Cyprus, Palermo, Croatia and Danzig have all been annexed by them in various wars. They've been ominously quiet the past 50 years though. Other strange things include Tver taking over most of Novgorod and leading a PU with Sweden, who got owned by Denmark, who instigated the Protestant reformation. Lithuania and Hungary are also vastly overpeforming themselves. Rajputana only 20 years ago controlled all of India, then they went bankrupt and collapsed. Venice were doing well, but then they get dragged into a war with France and cede most of their gains. I have no idea why they don't take Rome though and form Italy. No-one is guarenteeing the Papacy at all, and they have all the cores required, even Rome. Oman is also vastly overperforming itself, and recently they've taken Jerusalem to go with Mecca. Edit: By the way, that blob above Oman isn't all Persia, Syria emerged and have since done pretty well for themselves. Think they might hold Montengro and that area still. They held most of Greece earlier!

I must say, that is a strategy I've never even thought about using the Knights. Looks like a great game there. Lots of big, early blobs. I can't imagine what would happen if a fight broke out between you, France, Spain, Lithuania, and Hungary right now. It would be a really early WWI.

I did get involved in a war with Castille and GB earlier. I had complete naval dominance over them, but I couldn't touch any of their European territories (except islands) as I don't have the troops. (Well, I could've touched Britains as I trapped their doomstack on teh Western Isles, but I had what i wanted.) I'm thankful France hasn't shown any American colonial intersest bar Greenland, which i'm happy to let them have.
Manpower is a major issue for me. I can afford huge amounts of troops but my max MP is only about 40k. If I did have the manpower, I could probably beat them quite comfortably.

Why would you use rebels to convert to protestant as the Knights? You start out as catholic so should have been able to do so through decision which would not only have netted you a fair amount of ducats but also saved you from the -2 centralization hit. Or do you mean you used rebels to convert your provinces before going protestant? Not sure the latter is all that useful even then as provinces tend to convert at a fairly rapid rate once you've gone protestant anyhow.

Knights cannot convert willingly. If you examine the files you cannot access the decisions as the Knights or the Papacy (Something I only realised when the Reformation happened and I didn't have the decision open...). So I had to resort to using rebels.

I'd always just planned to convert though. I liked the idea of the Knights dishoning the Pope and going on a Crusade to claim the New World for the "righteous".

The one thing I do find slightly daft is that practically all of the New World is Maltese culture. Hence, the culture of one tiny island is now abundant in more provinces than any other...
