I wanted a byzantine empire with the same territory as the Roman Empire at it's height. To do that, I figured, I needed a few advantages. I was, after all, up against France, the UK, Spain and all the others.
Mecklenburg has got that hanseatic league thing, that gives +10% competitiveness. That is very good when starting out = fast research, as well as later in game, when reputation grows bad, and your competitiveness grows with it.
And then there's the latin unittypes, that are just a whole lot better than the eastern byzantine ones. And I really wanted a Roman empire with the best of the best of modern legionaires, and not a bunch of crappy oldschool peasant-like blunderbuss-carrying underdogs wearing purple.
As soon as I had gained cores in Thrace, I sold the mecklenburg province to Brandenburg, and then I moved my capital to Thrace, after which I sold Lübeck as well. Voila!
The white in both Northern Germany and Canada is the Papal State. The pope suddenly lost his property in Rome to someone else, and I guess he wasn't too sure he'd be able to keep anything else in old battered heretic Europe.
GB's capital is, quite ironically, located at a place, where the USA might have wanted theirs to be. In Conoy.
Update from my previous post. 35 years passed so it's 1637 now.
France has guaranteed Tver so there might be a war between the blue blob and the mongol horde.
I'm allied with Spain, Pommerania and Hungary, who is colonizing.
Future plans, expand in... well somewhere East. Haven't settled on what province to start with. Probably Gakwar.
And form Italy.

Only if Poland was a bit smaller. Cut in half would be perfect.

I've been thinking of attacking Great Britain and take The Orkney's so i get rid of that pain in the ass "Uncontested Claims" prestige thing. But my navy is weak so i don't know if I have a big chance! What do you guys think I should do?

I've expanded as far as I really plan to. I've just westernized and due to some rebels from Poland I've managed to convert to Protestantism. So far only about 1/4th of the Empire is protestant though. As for the rest of the world... Well, they've just barely made it to the Americas, Novgorod is on the eve of Russia, France is balkanized, Milan has conquered most of Italy and is crossing over into Germany, and the Middle East is just a mess of colors.

All these screenies only show one thing, IN vanilla is way too easy!

I have and find MMP boring. Not to take anything away from MMP, but IMO, Paradox modeled EU3 strictly as a game where countries are meant to expand ahistorically. MMP tends to slow down expansion a lot and I find it too restrictive almost. As Portugal, you either expand into Africa or Brazil/India but not both and than you have to play the waiting game on the proper events and circumstances to gain enough colonists and money to colonize. I have no problem with this setup, colonizing should be very costly and hard to do but as far as gameplay.. it makes a rather boring game even with the added events of MMP
mmp dont make the game harder, it only forces you to expand sligthly slower, and mmp also stops the ai from blobing, meaning that all the ai nations will be easyer to take outAll these screenies only show one thing, IN vanilla is way too easy!

Vijayanagar (spelling?) with main land and vassals marked with black, the colour is so bright so you don't see the islands otherwise.
I managed to reach the meditareanian (judea) but then the game just went way to slow so I stoped playing. Richest country in the world ofcourse
My latest game. Playing as the Golden Horde. I've taken out the Russians with the exception of Novgorod (guaranteed by France), and have recently been expanding into China and Siberia. Just finished westernizing. The colonization in this game is all messed up; not only the usual suspects, but also Venice, Mecklenburg, and the Ottomans(in Taiwan) have been colonizing. Venice is also about to form Italy on its own, with no help from me (probably because the Pope turned Calvinist!). I plan on conquering China, Manchuria, and Korea, and grabbing the rest of my culture group lands (Kazakh, Nogai, and the Mongol Khanate) (I don't control Persia though, that's Persia) Ming totally collapsed in a civil war accelerated by a bunch of external wars they had to fight, and was replaced by one of the revolter states.
