Anyway, since this is apparently an entirely different thread from the FEEDBACK thread (why?), I'll repeat this here:

One of the issues with the new forum, to me anyways, is vertical sprawl. Too few messages being displayed on one page and such.
Both long and short messages create too much dead space.
This is being caused, in part, by the 'Post date + share button + bookmark + postnumber' line, the 'last edited' and the 'report + edit + delete + quote + reply' lines all taking mutually exclusive room.
I suggest combining these as well as the message and like count on the user cell to the left of posts. Maybe even get rid of the emote space.
Now I should say that I'm already hiding forum badges for the same reason so maybe make those optional to display for users same as with the signatures.
(This wouldn't make a difference to one-liner posts but for longer ones)

Seriously, the unused space through badges becomes a real problem:
01. Doesn't it make more sense that badges would toggle depending on the (sub)-forum I'm posting in ? If I'm posting ( for example ) in the Stellaris-forum then isn't it "enough" that my Stellaris-badges are just be presented ? ( Base-game and its DLCs ). Or in other words: Who in the Stellaris-forum would care that my CK-II-/ and EU-IV-badges aren't be presented ( in my Stellaris-forum-posts ) ?
02. For posts in a general forum like this one I would argue that's "enough" that my base-game-badges are just be presented.
03. If somebody wants to check my personal profile then all of my badges could still be presented.

It's a bit slow responsive the like button, I think it's better change it to various button like Agree, Disagree and another general where it is the others hidden reactions.

Not a bad suggestion as such.
It really needs to come with the medal count bar coming back, though.
Was a bit heistant at first, as i'm one of those who likes to select the icon i display, usually... but i actually like the idea.
I would just amend your idea to add the "general icons" (Platypus, HumbleBundle, Paradox Order, PDXCon, and the likes) in all cases.
And i didn't get all my icons back... i got here 171 out of my 213 icons.
And i tried to put 166 of them inactive... but it seems that that function currently doesn't work.
Oh, it looks like we can collapse forum icons, but we have to do it manually for each post. Haven't tested if it stores the option across different threads, but it doesn't seem that way.
Yeah, that collapses the whole thing (not just icons) for all posters. I guess that solves the problem, albeit in a very inelegant way.

1. The forum load time has at least doubled since the upgrade, making opening topics very user-unfriendly. If there's a way to fix that, then cut whatever's causing this load time bloat.
2. Bring back the "Show only Dev Replies" option. I mostly come here for the Dev Diaries and being able to see all the Dev responses quickly was a really great feature.
3. In the same vein, making Dev posts a slightly different color would help differentiate them from other posts.
All in all I'm not sure this latest forum change was an "upgrade" on the user end, and a lot of the QOL features that made this forum easy to navigate are gone.

There is a rumor that companies that change parts of their software are nowadays advised not to talk to the customer about it as this will only lead to a giant storm of feces and any giving in will mean money and time lost and admitting, an error was made. 'You are the owners. You have the expertise and make no mistake' or similar new-age bull. Stonewalling and let the customers throw curses after curses as after about 6 weeks it will be business as usual again. The customer is stupid and will return to his obedient behavior again. And right they are. Anybody able to remember when some business changed their product to something we do not like? And how often we still bought the stuff we do not like because we are just to lazy to look for alternatives? The world is spinning strangely nowadays.

I have no other suggestion for improvement but calling it a failure and rolling back to old version. It now looks more than an advertising billboard for tablet-PCs with some places to write something as secondary or tertiary function. It logs me out every time now even in midst of session which is a HUGE step of improvement versus the 'throw me out every three days'' annoyance (can contain small amounts of sarcasm). Sorry, I cannot get warm with the new one. The old one was old, but reliable and optically not as challenging as this one.

I still don't get any Skare products due to their involvement in the 2006 meat scandal (they among other thing repackaged expired meat as new...) as well as their alleged involvement in the 2013 horse meat scandal (no idea if that involvement was proven).
And I believe that the Sun still doesn't really sell many papers in Liverpool due to Hillsborough. So some boycotts/grievances do last.

Paradox drastically changed Imperator after people complained about it. Valve is curerntly doing the same with Artifact.
