Scandinavia, 1794. I have no idea what to do with the last 26 years. Feels like I'm pretty finished. Suggestions? :p

I own nicely shaped blobs in Northern Europe and North America, as well as the British Isles and southern Iberia. Nothing in Africa though, that's just Ethiopia.

scandinavia1794.jpg

The Papal State stretches from the Atlantic to the Caucasus with colonies in every continent. With over 300k soldiers, it's probably the biggest AI nation I ever saw, with hardly any help from me.

Other things of note:
- Granada dominates South America
- Normandy, Persia and Catholic Algiers have colonies in Southern Africa
- The Inca proved to be quite though. After consecutively regaining independence from Aragon, England and Burgundy, they where finally conquered for good by a renewed invasion by the Burgundians.
- Cleves united western Germany :D

Playing as Russia, I managed to break the Golden Horde fairly early on (before 1500s). I then conquered Lithuania who had broken free from Poland, and set up the buffer state of Polotsk, force vassalised Riga, and diplo-vassalised Ukraine who had revolted from southern Lithuania to complete the barrier against whoever had the upper hand in the HRE at any point. I gave Riga and Ukraine my Lithuanian provinces so they would be able to have a decent army.

In Asia when I smashed through the various Khanates I ended up going over the BB limit which caused Riga to break free while I was at war with the Ottomans around the mid 1500s. My intention was to free the Balkans from them, but I ended up getting them to release everything they could in Europe. I revassalised Riga later and then gave them Samigota and the other provinces that Brandenburg controls in this picture.

Click the pictures to get a world map.

1541: I have Polotsk, Ukraine, Novogrod, and Georgia as vassals here, and no allies apart from them. (BB around 55)

I had a couple of wars with Ming when I reached them and got them to release the other Chinese revolters, Qin ended up controlling northern China, while Ming had the middle and Japan invaded and later annexed Wu in the south.

I spent most of the 17th and 18th Centuries trying to force a balance of power within the HRE, first warring with Brandenburg, then Bavaria when Brandenburg got inherited by them, and finally Austria. Around 1775 I managed to force Austria to loose enough territory so that they were of equal power to the combined Netherlands & Bavaria. When I was warring against Bavaria I managed to get them to convert to Orthodox, and as they where the emperor they started converting the HRE states to Orthodoxy. I think in the end only Austria, Wurtumburg and The Palatinate where Catholic.

The Prussian region changed hands so many times this game, first Poland conquered it, then Bohemia and Brandenburg fought over the area while partitioning Poland. It changed hands again to Bavaria when they inherited Brandenburg, I forced Bavaria to release the Teutonic Order, which formed Prussia and soon after that they were inherited by Austria, finally being split between me and Bavaria in the early 1700s after a series of inconclusive wars against Austria.

I ended the game with Riga, Polotsk, Ukraine, Trebizoid, and Croatia as vassals, and Bavaria, Netherlands, and Castille as allies. I was disappointed that the only colonial revolter was Haiti which emerged in the Turk Islands after revolting from Great Britain. Elsewhere the Papal States had a very successful game colonising parts of Canada and South America, France rebounded after getting mushed by Austria and conquered the Middle East, although I wish they had reconquered Normandy and Orleans as they weren't guaranteed or allied with anyone powerful. Castille, Portugal, and Great Britain got muddled up with where they were meant to be colonising in America, but that continent was rather peaceful. Austria went on a colonising spree in the Philippines taking up the slack from Netherlands. Lastly, at one point Sardinia had some small colonial holdings in Brazil, but they were eventually annexed by Portugal, Crete spent most of the game isolated in my sphere of influence with no-one interacting with them, and Naxos manged to hold onto their Greek lands and expand, with a small amount of help from myself.

1821: Riga, Polotsk, Ukraine, Croatia, and Trebizoid as vassals, Bavaria, Netherlands, and Castille as allies. (BB is 0)

My final stats were: second in income to Portugal (they had an epic CoT in Niagra), largest and most advanced army, and a respectable navy.
All my provinces had every building in them, with my manufactories and Regimental Camps being only built west of the Urals.
All my provinces Orthodox, and only 5 with a culture other than Russian in Asia, with my Georgian provinces having Georgian culture as well.

This isnt so much about my nation as much as it is about every other nation- Its mid 1500s, I started as Naples, conquered italy, went into illyria, tunisia/libya, and greece (which was under control of a reformed muslim byzantine sheikdom)

Couple notes, Im king of both France (unification war) and Castille (won a succession war against... wales?). France (under the war leadership of Bar) has been perpetually occupying castille for the last 200 or so years, making it literally impossible for me to inherit either country. Also, I was briefly overlord of the king of aragon, it being in a personal union under bar which was in turn a vassal of france which was in turn in a personal union under me.

Anyway, heres the world map circa 1558.

20suesm.jpg

Couple of absurd things to note-
Karaman controls near all of turkey, the ottomans collapsed after being occupied by the Bulgarians for 20 or so years. Those two hold outs in algeria, along with the are around Constantinople are the last remnants of what was once the ottoman empire (controlled turkey, parts of georgia, the Saudi Arabian peninsula, all of the Mediterranean and almost all the north African coast including Morocco and a solid block all the way up the west coast of the black sea through ukraine into southern russia). Meanwhile timurids have become MASSIVE, and Delhi has conquered/colonized the East African coast?

Meanwhile, thats Bremen controlling most of England, and brabant and holland (which also controls denmark) are in a race east across Germany. What's more is thats Trebizond, the little greek culture nation in eastern turkey, which for whatever reason had nationalists in greece and formed in larissa and erdine. Also, Ukraine became a massive powerhouse in eastern europe somewhere along the way, although its a little smaller since its war with bohemia. Tripoli also found its way to controlling an arbitrary chunk of land south of the sahara. Finally, first time ive ever seen Danzig form :)

END GAME.

Ireland, Netherlands, France, Prussia, Italy and Scandinavia are major vassals. Others are Bosnia, Austria, Hungary and Moldavia.
Shame I didn't have the time to do Spain. Or Jagellonian Empire. Or Balkans.
Chances for Diplo-Annex on 31.12.1821 were "likely" (had three six star ambassadors), "very likely" for Prussia.
Income from vassals was approx. the same as tax income.
Also of note: Lithuania in its borders looking like a dragon (or something) flying upwards.

So. Ever seen a prettier Western Europe (bar Iberia)?

My first game as Moscowy - Russia.

My original plan was to conquer Europe, but I had to review those plans as a verry strong Austria (300K+ army) and a strong Netherlands and Castille were not helpful.

France collapsed throughout the game as a blob. Bourbonnais almost take whole America by it! Transilvania did well too until the end of the game.

This is the year 1475 in my first game as the Ottoman Empire. Playing with the latest beta, with a minor tweak on my part to the HRE expansion modifier. I've Westernized and my realm stretches from the Bosnia to the Persian Gulf. The light green in north Africa is still Tripoli. For some reason Poland has metastasized into this weird ribbon that cuts almost all the way across Europe.

My Enland game circa 1777, second map includes all my vassals. Russia is ridiculous with manpower over 400k, but I've never had any confrontation with them. Austria the only threat in Europe but we just fight sporadically usually because my badboy is now over 400.

The same game in 1533. France is getting big. At least Poland is still a nice buffer between us. Ming is looking a little scary right beside Ottoman East Asia. Delhi might become a problem if they try to unite the subcontinent, but so far they've played nice and left Ottoman India alone. Since I didn't have a core in Basra to let me build ships, I had to march all the way across Asia to get to these places. The Golden Horde and Persia are separate despite being the same colour.

I started off pretty well. I used the fifty years it took for the Hainaut king to die and for me to get out of the PU to establish trade domination In my first war with Burgundy I grabbed Vlandern. After that I got an event that gave me cores on my rivals, Artois, Utrecht, and Brabant. I took Utrecht right away and then guaranteed Brabant so that when Burgundy came for them, they got wiped out then I slipped in and grabbed Artois while France ate the rest of them up. After that war, I attacked Brabant and seized Brabant. After that I vassalized Hainaut, Liege, Flanders, Gelre, Brabant, and Friesland and diploannex the first two and Brabant. Then I did some colonizing in the New World (Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Curacao, the Bahamas, the Turks and Martinique are mine) then I turned my attention south towards Africa. I grabbed Fernando Po and Cape which was a good jumping point for my first Indian conquest (Ceylon). After that I went after the Spice Isles and wiped out all but Brunei (who is coming next). I am currently jockeying for power in India with Aragon. I have the south of India, part of Bangladesh, and Sind. I plan on conquering as much of the Indian coast as I can before the Holy War CB runs out in 1650. France declared war on me the instant they switched to Absolute Monarchy. I got them to release Normandy, Champagne, and Luxembourg off of just battle warscore alone. My tech and discipline advantage was clear even though my MP gave me problems. I plan on switching to Republican Dictatorship once the next tech level comes in. I plan on grabbing Calais, Valenciennes, Cambray and Picardie for a good border and then releasing every country I can (Brittany, Orleans and the Palatinate are next). As long as I can remain the richest nation on Earth I should be able to dice up France over the next century. Forming the Netherlands is a close goal as well.

Don't know how it happened, but that's Trier for some reason.

They and the Emperor got into a war with Sweden, and possibly Denmark, since Sweden was at war with the Emperor Trier didn't need military access to get to Denmark.

They proceeded to march through Denmark and Sweden, probably losing every battle on the way, and seized Kola which was still a colony and made peace with Sweden before they could seize it back.
Happens all the time in my games.

Or Sweden just failed to put down some zealots. I doubt it.

Highlights:
  • I beat back the Ottomans in the 16th Century, and gave enough land to Morea that they could reform the Byzantine empire. Unfortunately, the Byzantines crumbled in the 17th century; Karaman popped, and is occupying all the Byzantine land other than colonies.
  • Brittany, Byzantium, and Persia are all very active colonisers.
  • The USCA, Mexico, Colombi and a tiny Quebec all popped.
  • Burgundy stubbornly refuses to take Anjou - which they have a core on - and form France. Portugal moved to North America almost entirely, became rich there, and took back land in Iberia later. Then Castille took land too. Big mess.
  • I dismantled the HRE early on, so the Hansa and Austria both blobbed a lot into it. Austria was an amazing AI comeback; at one point, they were a OPM in Wien. If it weren't for me, they'd own land going up to the Netherlands right now.
  • The huge beige blob is actually Golden Horde AND Persia. Persia is enormous - it owns everything south of the Aral sea, and east of Sibir.
