Wow that's crazy fast westernization. You got that just from Afghanistan/Bukkhara/etc.?

Pretty much. I started out taking out Khiva and the one state of Kokand that borders Russia (and switching to the Nationalist Faction for the sweet, sweet Jingoism to give be a better chance at less infamy from war justification), to make sure they didn't ninja down south and take everything I could've (as happened in my first attempt with Persia). Taking them out gave me enough RPs to wait just a wee bit for a military reform, and once I had it I went and took out Kalat, Makran, Bukhara, and once I had the strength Afghanistan (who I also allied with until then to give me a little helping in the constant conquerings). I wanted to take out Punjab, but they got into friendly with Britain before I could make a move against them (though Afghanistan took their holdings in Baluchistan from them, which I'd take from Afghanistan in turn). I think by the time I finished off Afghanistan I'd gathered enough RPs to be about three or so thousand away from the final economic reform to reach Westernization.

However, my good luck on infamy had run out and there wasn't much wiggle room to gamble on finishing Kokand, so I sat back and just let the final RPs pile up for a couple of years. Ultimately Westernized in 1849, I believe, though had I been able to just steamroll Kokand it could've been done in 1846, give or take. Obviously, Persia is a special case at it starts off with a smattering of reforms under its belt. One of these day, when I've got the patience, I'm going to see how quickly a nation in that region that starts with none can Westernize following the same approach.

But yeah, switch to a Jingoistic ruling party, conquer as many people as you can, take the military reforms that boost your RP bonuses, and Bob's your uncle.

And yes, the tiny Ethiopia is adorable. I had no desire to conquer them, but my allies in Egypt thought differently. Clearly they thought this was CKII and letting Ethiopia survive is no longer a thought that crosses the mind of the Egyptian leadership.

Germany was Fascist, then the commies kicked them and the monarchy out. France is a democracy with the liberals in power after the Jacobins kicked out some commies. Italy is a fascist hms government just got Venetia and Lombardy after helping their fascist pal Germany fail to annex anhalt for the fourth time. I'm a liberal HMS government despite having more socialists than liberals because the mass of liberal parties lets them form a majority coalition. Poland is also a fascist HMS Government.

The USA actually has its perfect real world borders, after taking New England back off Britain.

Oddly Prussian Constitutionalist governments don't allow fascist parties, so for a while Italy had a reactionary government with a majority fascist house and the fascists didn't get into power until they passed some voting rights.

Out of date Great Powers from 1918. Fascist Melonstralia kept insulting me, they later elected the socialists but kept offering me cassus bells against them. So I used the resulting humiliate cassus bell to send my fleet down. He had twice as many ships with 22/30 tech, I had 29/30 tech, . Turns out tech actually matters in naval battles. Now Germany and the People's Melon of Australia are no longer Great Powers, replaced by Italy and Russia.

That's a curious bit of Poland actually. I saw it happen, couldn't figure out how though. Must be rebels - but which ones?

If you can come up with a good idea how it happened, and a save from before it happened, throw it into the bug section please.

What attractive borders! But is that a bit of Poland in the middle of Germany?

That is Anhalt, loyal sphereling of Austria Hungary (Germany formed through crown of the gutter a few months after they declared war on me, I let them lose because they wanted to cut me down to size rather than take Schleswig-Holstein).

Prussia kept declaring assert hegemony wars against Austria for Anhalt and kept losing. After becoming Germany they still haven't learned their lesson.

I take it that's the Dominion of South Cameroon gobbling up a large portion of Africa?
Dominion of Algiers. It was French, but now it is independent and were GP sometime.

Finally I pulled this out without cheating (if we exclude giving my polish pops 60% literacy, since that is the literacy they're supposed to have apparently. I didn't give that literacy to Ukrainian and Byelorussian posps though). Started as Congress Poland, NNM. On the lower right you can see my loyal ally Transcaucasia, that has been vital in letting me conquer all those Russian lands since Russians attacked them for Georgia twice, with me gaining Minsk and Kiev in the first war and all the PLC cores in the second war. I was assigned Ostpreussen and Silesia when Germany got dismantled after they attempted to recover the cores I got from a previous crisis (they and Belgium wanted to free Ruthenia, me, France, England and USA didn't think so and so I exploited this to gain my cores back). A similar thing has happened when I recovered my cores on Russia, only in that case Germany and the UK helped me while Russia, France and the Netherlands thought it would be nice to have and independent Ruthenia.
Austria was a pushover, as in most games. Too bad I lost this save with the new NNM and beta patch, but the game hadn't much to say anymore, except maybe dismantling KUK just because-

All in all, it was a nice, fun game if we exclude the first 20 years of me farming prestige to be able to form Poland, with the only gain I had was Krakow (Austria attacked them as coded, Russia intervened since it was friendly with Krakow. I forged a conquest CB and Russia helped me conquer them for some reason, I was in their sphere and allied to them. In AHD the alliance with Russia was the fundamental step to take as CP, in HoD an alliance with Russia isn't really a doable thing).

I'm trying to form the PLC right now (as Krakow), I've turned into Galicia-Lodomeria and basically don't know where to go next......

Anyways, I'm curious as to how Yugoslavia formed without Zagreb....

My third game since buying HoD and my first using the PoD mod. Gotta say this is my most successful game as an African Minor ever. Mossi -> Toucouleur Empire -> Mali Empire. I got lucky with Europe staying out of Africa until 1880. I westernised early 187. Very happy as the Berlin Conference fired January 1880. After that things go intresting. France focused on colonising North Africa and the British the Pacific. The only concerning point game when Britian tried to colonise Gambia. After that I spent most of my time just colonising and trying to increase literacy level. About 10 years ago my Lit level was 10%. I don't see much hope in me industrialising in the near future. I think I can hold onto my GP position, possibly go as far as 6 or 5. The only threat I have right now is that the last invention needed to colonise what's left was just invented by the British and myself. Oh and I'm at war with every other GP except Japan and the USA. Any ideas on how I can help Germany?

Tempted to write an AAR on this.

This is actually my third game with HoD, but it's my most successful one to date:

F421C05A21F1AB3161AA1613A86B411C0F318C68

Europe went kind of nuts. Other than taking Austria's Poland I more or less ignored them in favor of Asian and African wars. AI Germany dominated the continent, took a good 1/3rd of England, released all those Balkans countries, and Ireland, and formed Greater Germany by annexing Austria when it fell out of Great Power status.

A97B3735AE614A592A5F73427A94CB8ACB4E9E01

Went into Africa through my Asian land bridge and prevented the Suez Canal from ever being built. Ended up competing heavily with the Ottoman Empire of all people.

CC834C52155592159CB2DFD37E2C2AA5611D9159

China westernized in the late 1800s and allied with Germany so when they came to get revenge for that whole Peking thing around 1915 there wasn't a lot I could do against their gas toting 2500+ brigades.

@Fire and Ash : Damn, a bit too late, I was about to post my Mali Empire here, but still in the process of... trying to figure out how to post it.....
Managed to grab almost all of Africa, albeit Southern Africa and Morocco.....

May we see the nationality map/POP tab?

You certainly may.

EDIT: The British pops are probably because I just captured British Guyana, not because I was getting much British immigration. Most of the game, I had most of my NFs - as many as all seven - promoting soldiers. This helped me survive an average of 2.5 containment wars every decade for ~60-70 years, but probably stopped me from ever reaching GP status.
