So... You just waited and develop each province for almost 400 years ?

It's role playing. Restriction was no dow(only fight defensive war), keep historical border. Why? because it is what really happens in Korea in that time frame.

I like it. Ive never been a huge fan of painting the map a single color. If a nation looks like something that could exist at the start of Vicky II, it's usually pretty cool in my book. Not typically to this extreme, but still an awesome, different play through.

I decided to try Very Hard and figured I would play an easy nation so I wouldn't get smashed. The Ottomans turned out to be ... a little too easy for what I wanted.

blXo8cm.jpg

Probably never doing a WC again unless I upgrade my CPU, since even recruiting a single merc takes like half a second lategame when my nation is this big and that gets really annoying really fast. And templates are very not an option either.

30 million attrition casualties because I was too lazy to split up my 100k stacks and with a maximum of 2.0% attrition (defensive + quantity + defensive/humanist policy) I didn't have to. Too bad I didn't have that yet when I fought Ming in Dai Viet's territory for my first war against them. Should've taken a screenshot of the casualties in that war, over a million on my side and two million for Ming.
9k7LWOP.jpg

It's not your CPU, this game is very poorly optimized and unless you are playing on grandma's dell an upgrade will not help you, I have an i7 6700k (1 gen old top of the line intel processor) and even owning 1/4th of the map gets me down to 40ish FPS on speed 4 and even lower on speed 5.

You don't need tsardom.
You do however need the DLC :D

Without it, it functions as a normal colonist. Indistinguishable from the normal one.

On the plus side, it cost nothing to take as a CN NI, so you can have three colonists at 1444 if you so choose. It's a money pit, but perfect in an Ideas Guy run, and even better for any run with a hard points cap.

You only need one colonist to colonize Carribean ASAP (as Siberian Frontier doesn't work on islands, though it works over straits). The plaguelike spread over Americas can be facilitated via the Frontier alone.

Finished my first CK2 -> EU4 campaign.

I started in 1075, with coronation of Dmitar Zvonimir as King of Croatia. No matter what nation I play, 107x are always my favorite years for some reason.
Soon after, I formed the Empire of Carpathia, which I then renamed to Panonia and to which I gave a custom-made flag.

At the end of CK2 (in advance I apologize for the border gore):
r7fB1pv.jpg

since I planned to convert the save to Vic2, I played until 1836 rather than until 1821:

World in 1836:
yqvGbgL.jpg

Religion:
W4hynj5.jpg

Culture:
5BRMcZK.jpg
5BRMcZK.jpg

And notes on the playthroughs:
- I love the fact that I pulled on Hungary what they pulled on Croatia historically: used a succession crisis to put myself (well, my son in this case) onto the throne. Soon after, I was able to form Empire of Carpathia… which I renamed to Panonia and gave a custom-made flag

- I was a very loyal Crusader, I participated and won every crusade… besides the last one which was targeting some Kingdom in middle of India. Well, its epic failure serves as a good in-game reason to end the age of crusades… that and the fact that the rest of Europe decided that the only one profiting from all the Crusades was Panonia :p

- the Rurikids have somehow found themselves on the throne of HRE and formed an unholy Ruso-German Empire. Not sure if Russians were celebrating for long because their rulers Germanized, and then they went to germanize Russia as well. And they were centralized enough that HRE was a unified fucking state when I converted the save to EU4 -_-

- after converting the game to EU4, I started the last crusade… the crusade to fix these atrocious borders! Seriously, just look at them! And just for the record, this whole colonization of Africa I did was also to fill those wastelands with color

- for some reason, Mecca converted to Catholicism out of its own will. I still got the event where I made money of Muslim pilgrims though!

- Zikri did well enough, and Orthodoxy ruled the steppes for a long while… at least until the HRE decided they liked those steppes. I find it strange to believe, but the Ledger says that Sunni is still the largest sect of Islam

- Alaska (before France ate their territories it was called California) was a Hindu country, and that looked fun. But Mexico is English, and I find it weird. Colombia is Polish and I’m neutral on that one

-on the first pic, you can barely see the Hashashins. But in first half of EU4 playthrough, they were a rising force which controlled a great deal of map at their highest point… but then HRe decided they’d follow the Templar’s Creed. Chauhans also rose quite nicely from a small nation

- due to small number of Catholic countries, Age of Reformation started very late, and when it did… it ended after 10 years. Suffice to say no more than two Centers of Reformation appeared, very few provinces were converted, and the Reformation failed epically. Didn’t stop the Pope from proclaiming the Counter-Reformation after its failure though

- I wasted quite a lot of Bird Mana in last few decades in order to do some culture conversions. But it had to be done! Some people may pretend the Cultural Mapmode may not exist, but I won’t tolerate Border gore even there!

- the Revolution started in Poland. Had to crush it to get rid of that annoying and bothersome Counter-Reformation modifier. Unfortunately, I caused some border gore by doing so and I apologize for it. But Litva’s borders are nice now, don’t you think?

- Ashikagas managed to save their position as Shoguns! Good for them!

- if I do continue playing in Vic2 and I buy HoI4 and the converter is there… the HRE will pay for their heathen borders!

My plan was to convert it to Vic2, but after a test run Vic2 feels a bit poor compared to EU4. Reminds me of how desperately we need Vic3! Come on Paradox, give us the sweet stuff already!

Considering what other people are doing with the Siberian Frontier tradition, this isn't fantastic, but it wasn't meant to be. Started in the province of Mandan, Totemist religion, Nakota culture, tribal government type and everything (though I picked the wrong type, which is why this is basically the end of the game here). Total less than 50 points spent for the potential achievements. Most of the region conquered by 1500, spent the rest of the time cleaning up the last few independent tribes. The French showed up at the end, which was unfortunate. The only other tribe which exists besides the Azetcs and other southern Native Americans are the Sioux, who were my steadfast allies from day one (not that I needed them, but I'll keep them around anyway). My national ideas were awful, definitely going to change them up next time.

Basically because I picked the wrong tribal type instead of just being given tons of free tech and institutions free once the Europeans showed up, I had to get level eight administrative tech, two stability and border a country with institutions embraced. It didn't give me anything for free, I stayed far behind in everything.

Oh yeah and bonus stupid event I got, which makes no sense. I don't have exploration so there is no such thing as Mandan conquistadors, and also I have almost no neighbors to speak of so who knows.

1608 and I'm more or less where I wanted to be. I went Protestant and won the League War in 1564 since I had the Ottomans' and Muscovy's help (I could've had France and Great Britain's help as well, but France was attacking Great Britain at the time so France wasn't called in at all and Great Britain was called in but didn't help since the AI didn't want to do a naval invasion of the Austrian Netherlands even after its war with France ended). Ottomans are blobbing so I'll probably have to deal with them after destroying Poland and I also want to invade Great Britain at some point this century and take Portugal's land in the Cape so I can route all the trade east of it to there and collect trade there. My allies are Russia, Bohemia, Netherlands, Hesse, and France...though I dunno how permanent my alliance with France will be since I might want all the land in the English Channel, haven't decided yet. I am the Emperor so I'll probably form the HRE at some point after adding enough provinces to pass all the reforms.

Edit: I didn't form Prussia yet because I'm waiting for the Reform Brandenburg Army event and I'm not sure how good Prussian Monarchy will be for me as a government since I'm not playing tall.

Most of its functions are worse with a wide playstyle, but you always get a +3Mil on your monarch rolls, almost guaranteeing a 5 or 6 for your Mil stat. You can use this excess MP to buff militarization in a pinch. Possibly not worth it as opposed to developing, but you can still play with the mechanics, and ditch it later to form Germany.

everytime i see a Roman Empire restored i am a little envious, because i'm playing still the 1.11 version. But because i have the nation designer, i came to the only conclusion

bender.jpeg

if anyone interested this is my starting nation:
the capital was Pisa, even is this cost some more point, i wanted to be part of HRE at the beginning. After i added Rome to the HRE, i have moved my capital to Rome. That's the only "cheat" i conceded to myself

20170620005321_1.jpg

i was lucky at the beginning because Otto, after conquering Albania, didn't take City of World Desire mission, but Vassalize Wallachia, which give me time to snipe Constantinople from Byz before them :)
After that, Otto didn't do anything, they neither reconquest all their core, so i could focus early on France. After 4 wars, France was an OPM and from that the game went without any big effort (Armenia is my vassal and Roxolani my client state)

20170620004050_1.jpg

as i'm not sure what are the requirement to form the Roman Empire, i used this map as reference (considering eu4 province most of the time can't fit the ancient world province)

Out of curiosity, why are you playing 1.11?

well, 2 reasons:
1) when Common Sense was released, i didn't like the devs put development in the paid feature because i thought (and still think) it's a basic feature which should be accessible for everyone (now, i don't want to start another dlc comment wars, this is just how i feel/felt and i have all the dlc for the 1.11, aside CoP)

2) i don't have too much time to play, sometimes i need 2 months to finish a campaign and, because the eu4 learning-curve is very steep, i don't have the time, neither the desire, every few patch to relearn all the new mechanics.

And for me 1.11 it's a very polished version, few bugs and every mechanics interact good with each other.
In any case, sometimes i try the game updated with the latest patch, just to see what i miss (and to be honest there are interesting features which i like)
