Based on how much you have ruined their expansion opportunities, the Ottomans must be your greatest friend and ally, right? ;)

A titan is standing above Europe, even with France exiled to America the Valois dynasty emerged triumphant.

Next on the list: Spain to get as many colonial achievements as possible. First run already failed miserably because why in the name of god does the humiliate rival CB not say that you can't annex terrritory?

Cause that would be kind of op, to just get a free casus belli on anyone you rival

Still a stupid idea to allow you to take territory. The entire point is to humiliate them, making you look more powerful. Honestly it's already a great CB, it doesn't need to be made OP.
What's so great about it?

There is no greater humiliation than carving a rival apart. I mean, at least let us take border provinces with claims. :( I just wanted a Gascogne core to release.

You know what else gives you loads of PP? Taking 100% worth of warscore from an enemy...

It really is a garbage CB, maybe in Johan's scrubworld it is of some use.

edit: actually can you take land from secondary parties with the CB? Its actually marginally useful in that case..

Sure, if you're going for a WC then you are absolutely correct. But not everybody has that playstyle, all of the time. I'm doing a Poland into Prussia run as present and rather than painting the map, I plan to war everyone around me to farm PP (Show strength or humiliate) and for war reps.

Also, a very situational use for the CB is at the beginning of the game when you may be able to fight a puny rival 1 on 1. Often 300 easy mp. Not to be sniffed at.

So basically after my first post, I managed to take over Italy and make it a client state, and take over egypt and some some parts of India. Was a really fun campaign!

May Munster -> Hannover -> Germany game.
Formed Hannover pretty late since I wasn't an elector and didn't want to leave the HRE. Eventually, I got it dismatled.

Not quite the Empire I hoped for, but I was the strongest.
Also got Egypt. Allied with Lithuania, backstabbed old friend Bohemia, had to break up with the Netherlands since they declared a stupid war.

That France mess is because they got a union over Poland and started DOWing with imperialism on everyone around them. When French Carpathia is used to be a pretty big Transylvania.

My noly vassal is "Hannoverian Poland" in Nowy Sacz.

Got "Early Reich", so I guess I'm satistied with this.

I am playing pretty much this exact campaign atm. Mid-16th century the game decided to just derp and gave me first Brandenburg (no succession war), then Bohemia (Austria contested). I guess waiting till I had a Hohenzollern (Bohemia had a century-old alliance with Brandenburg until league wars and shared dynasty) before secularizing was the right move.

eu4_26.png

Heir is 6-5-4 and I just know he will die an ignoble death months before current ruler (Lux Stella baby) dies. After getting almost rekt by a coalition and losing first Burgundy and then France as allies due to religion and French derps early in that game, I think I deserve a little luck. Hope this is not too much luck, though.

Spain is Valois, which means blue Iberia is only a matter of time.

You can play poorly on purpose to screw around, but that doesn't make it a good addition to the game.

I'm not sure how else you would class "I'm going to intentionally select options I know for a fact offers me less utility/relative strength of position than alternative options, despite the latter being available"

"It helps when you're cherry tapping" is not a sound refutation that a given option is poorly implemented.

Well I know not best but first time finished a campaign I tryed to rush in first years so I was late in tech and ideas so I get the colonist very late and tryed to colonize Alaska so I rushed there but couldn't made it. I managed to take over Scandinavia, when I was taking Denmark campaign ended. France and Ottomans allied each other so I couldn't attack Ottomans.

I'm going to post an Empire, not because it's at all good, but because I have a couple of questions about it. I hope it's OK to ask them in this thread. This is me as Ottomans in October 1526, which is about as far as I've played the game till now:

I bought some new dlc yesterday, and didn't quite understand how it worked, and that if I had it loaded on start it would be loaded in my game, and disable achievements. So I don't think I'll play this game any further. I learned a lot playing this one, and in retrospect I made a lot of mistakes. My first war against the Mamlukes cost me a lot of money and manpower, because I micro'd very badly, and I fought some unnecessary coalition wars in the East because I didn't rotate truces properly, etc. I won them, but they took a long time. I should mention that I got pretty lucky with rulers in this game. My first made it till almost the 16th century, and then I had something like a 5/2/5 for 10 years, and then something like a 5/5/2.

I'm beginning to see why people think blobbing is a bit boring, but... I can be pretty single-minded about things, and I'd like to WC. My pace was way too slow in this game (I'm sure a good player could WC from this position, but that's different from pace) but I'm not sure how slow. Where should I be at this point to realistically do it? I learned a lot in this game, so I think I could get quite a bit farther by this date now, but how fast do you have to be to do it?

The other thing is that I don't understand the release/vassal mechanics well (and hardly used them in this game, aside from not bothering to core Morea/Athens at the start.) Is it really important to use vassals for coring, etc. as expansive Ottomans?

Also, should I be expanding more into Europe at this point, and at what point should I really try to get Wien or Prague? I'm still figuring out how to deal with AE, and while I can win against coalitions in the East, I am scared of them in the West. Thanks.
