This is my Papal State. Playing on normal difficulty with random lucky nations on. Spain is my ally (they have PU with Portugal) and GB my biggest rival. I am currently trying to create trade empire using Alexandria trade node but there is still work to be done. I had ambition to conquer north Africa but after costly core-creation in Tunis, I don't think that is going to happend. I have also strongest army and navy on planet, and along with GB most advanced technology in Europe.

My Ironman game:
Livonia strong...
39E67DC6AAAC9B4A222E6DAB0B56328FD8B38490

....,but Livonian Russia stronger
D9DFCCCD7F3A0B3841494593CA8B94376498A208

And I cannot decide if I should convert to Protestantism or not :/

Note for other players, it seem's that you get "For Mother Russia" achievement if you form Russia by Muscovy or other russian state, because I didn't get it it, although I played my game on ironmode. As - well unit appearance defaults to eastern imitatively after I formed Russia and after I reloaded game all my cities switched to eastern appearance. Now I wish I had never formed Russia, but instead having Livonian Order all across the map....Darn

How did you do that? I wanna try!

The hard part is the start, because there's a good chance a revolt will wreck you before you can get to exploration (which you bee-line). The easiest/best solution might be to start converting religion and let the rebels win and convert you to Orthodox, but I really wanted to stay Catholic so I kept going until I pulled it off when I got +1 missionary strength event. You might as well disband your troops too because you can't afford them for a while. Save up some cash for an expedition, get fleet basing right from Portugal/Spain, go to Africa, and do a mix of colonizing/conquering. Watch out for inflation from gold mines! You should keep some vassals too to save on coring costs, because you're going to be coring A LOT (and they can hold your gold mines for a while).

Ah nice, currently iam playing the Knights too. Took me about 10 starts to figure out a good way. First i tried to convert catholic, but cost me too much time so i revolted to orthodox (the pope is corrupt so ....). Then i tried colonising and went with fleet rights to "Arguin" between Mali and Morocco. - Colonies are expensive and i needed loans and the overall progress was to slow so i started again. Waited for the right moment and force sailed with 4000 men + conquistador to Africa. Congo was planned as destination but the ships desintegrated so i went to Benin took -2 stab and slaughtered them. I kept Benin for the moment and released Oyo as my vassel. (they converted their provinces themself to orthodox). Later i took another -2 stab to conquer Loango from Congo and after that i continued with CBs. Made Kongo my capital, renamed to "Zion" for the lulz. Now its 1550 and i have a good base for further actions. I went for exploration, religious and tax ideas. Now so many choices. Conquer Mali? Conquer Swahili? I want Jerusalem too - ^-^.

Yeah the start is awful, probably one of the worst, especially if you want to stay Catholic (which I did, because I think you need to be Catholic to form Jerusalem. Plus Catholic is amazing once you get big enough to dominate the Curia, which you can easily). I actually ended up going with the colonizing Arguin route, which is still my capital. It's not a sexy province, but the trade node it's in is actually pretty good when you can start redirecting trade from Asia. The only downside is the constant siphoning off of my money from Portugal and Castile, so I have to wreck their navies every few decades. It's a fun game! I'm looking forward to finishing off Africa and going for the holy land!

Timurids -> Mughals

This time I wanted to exploit PUs and vassals as much as I could. Pretty much half of my empire was integrated through personal union.
Lot's of fun! PU with Ottomans is overpowered, declare war on a random nation and watch it burn. :D

After adding a quick modification to remove the end date (or at least move it to 2500 :eek:o) Spain began having some issues in it's colonies in 1782. A successful revolt by Louisianian Patriots won themselves independence, and the province of Baygoula. However, the Spainish Crown did not take too kindly to this news, and so only 4 months later, Spain declared war on the tiny nation of Louisiana. This declaration was made mindlessly however. In those 4 months of peacetime, Louisiana had already found many allies in Europe, such as Portugal and France. Louisiana quickly issued a call to arms as it's first action of the war. Portugal refused, but France stepped up to the challenge. Spain was now at war with one of the world's most powerful countries at the time, and instead of having to simply deal with a tiny country with less than 6,000 men at it's service, Spain now had to defend it's mainland from over 145,000 Frenchmen. Louisianian troops march over Spain's colonial borders, seizing colony after colony in the hopes that Spain would agree to a peace instead of trying to take on France in a battle it wouldn't be able to win at the time. Instead, the war dragged on for more than 3 years, with France and Spain in a total slugfest in Europe, Spainish North America was wide open for the taking. The Louisianians realized this, and begun a slow, but rewarding advance west. Louisiana was expanding without any problems, that is, until March 3rd, 1786. A part of the feared Spainish Armada reached the Gulf of Mexico. Although no invasion troops were onboard, an even more deadly mission was assigned to them. Louisiana was now completely blockaded from the very trade that kept it going. War weariness was increasing, and stability began to drop. On December 18th, 1786, peace was signed between Lousiana/France and Spain. France gained Roussillon, and Louisiana gained all of modern day Louisiana and Texas. The now enlarged micro-power of Louisiana began to recover, and by 1792, was at full stability and 0 war exhaustion. By that time, Britain was now having many, many issues all around the world, and in the Americas, Louisiana saw a chance to shine. War was declared with the intention of taking Louisiana's claims in the north along the Mississippi River. A rather slow, yet quiet takeover of the rest of modern day Mississippi, Alabama, and sections of modern day Tennessee and Florida progressed without any problems. On May 27th, 1794, Louisiana managed to get a peace signed with Great Britain. Louisiana gained every province it took, and was now looking like a true power in America. The United States however, did not seem to like this idea of a Greater Louisiana, and so on November 9th, 1794, the USA declared war on Louisiana. With the support of the French once more, the war was much more bloody than Louisiana's last conflicts. The war was in a stalemate for more than 8 months, until in 1798 the combined armies of Louisiana and France broke through the USA's lines of defense, and push all the way up to modern day Washington DC. On August 11th, 1804, peace was signed between the USA and Louisiana. Louisiana had now grown 3 times it's previous size before the US-Louisianian War.

After that point, Spain was losing it's grip in America, and the nation of Mexico was born. Followed by Quebec revolting from the British, and Portugal losing several colonies in South America to similar revolts.

Present day:

I'm very sorry I didn't take any screenshots of the early days or the wars of Louisiana's current glory, this was an all-nighter sort of thing, and I didn't think to bother posting this until now. If anyone would like more screenies on various parts of the country, or it's internal affairs, I'd be glad to take some.

Best Regards,
Cisco

(PS: It also seems to resemble a rather important nation from the mid-late 1800s doesn't it?)
(PPS: France broke it's alliance with me about 6 years after the US-Louisianian war ended)

First finished Russian games in EU4.

mxZhFpG.png

I was extremly lucky here. Crimea was destroyed by Poland, then they destroyed Ottomans. Lithuania broke the alliance with Poland, so that allowed me to grab all nice Orthodox territories. Westernised around 1570 with admin 1 ruler. ; ] Well, it was easy. I could make borders a bit more nice, but was a bit lasy.

Made two reloads during the game. Still don't understand some minor details regarding alliances and when AI tends to follow them. Basially I was fighting with Poland for Crimea, and both me and Poland were allies with Austria. First suprise was when tooltip showed, that Austria will join my war, but no. : ]

Second, when they finished war with Ottomans I was fighting with them and then followed the call from Poland, and I was pretty sure that 60 days passed from the beggining. So that is that. I probably could deal with both wars as it was, but I was lazy. Main goal was to try to find some non cheese ways to annex faster with vassals.

Game as Switzerland, Lucky nations random, difficulty normal IIRC. Pretty fun so far, I've done well for not really playing EUIII much without cheating a lot =P No cheats on EUIV yet...

Took my two Western cores back from Savoy, early on, thus began the meteoric rise of Switzerland!

uno1_zps0b7bcdfa.jpg

Little bigger, let the AI's screw themselves over like always, I think the Mamlukes were smashing Venice to peices so I took it as an oppertunity to make a snake to the coast so I could build me some light trading ships, the 3.5+ value ones by this time in the game. Playing as a republic is extremely useful, getting to get rid of crappy rulers easily, and buffing your ruler every election, as having Republican Tradition at less than 70 (as low as 50) seems to do nothing at all to you, much less effects than having low legitimacy. I was ahead according to the tech tooltips in military ~15 years at maximum, leading much of europe.

uno2_zps7cea77c8.jpg

I allied with France early on, they seem to have liked me, due to the threat of Austria (it's ever present inheritance of Burgundy...) they helped me clobber Austria a few times, I was even allied to England and France at the same time for a time, untill France wanted to take it's mainland provinces back from England, and France > England so I had to prioritize (Sorry England...)

Eventually I noticed that Spain was loving me, (~120 relations and I never did anything to them at all? No improve relations?) Odd how quickly favor can change. I allied them too, so now I had France AND Spain as allies, playing them both like a fiddle to further my evil Swiss plans of world domination, =P

Spain declared war on England for some reason and I mindlessly clicked to help them when they called me, even though I didn't send any millitary IIRC this happened...

uno3_zps1a390f68.jpg

Take a look at Munster, they made them release an Irish province, Ireland rises, lol...

Little bigger, doing well.

uno4_zps685636b8.jpg

Whacky amount of wars, I dont remember what happened, I think two of them are coalitions against me (a lot of Italian and HRE minors, Austria was smashed at the time from constant wars with me and my roflstomp alliances with the two most powerful nations in Europe, I wasn't worried) the war with France was me at war with them for being Dishonorable Scum (awesomely low AE, Spain of course I called and they came, REALLY high bilateral relations) and capturing Franche Comte which I had a claim on. The fat Swiss blob gets fatter again. I dont exactly remember the series of events that caused France to break their alliance with me, but they had a "Domineering" attitude toward me, after I gained a few provinces more before I went after Franche Comte they made me their rival, I was shocked lol "Wow, I'm as powerful as France?"

Also, Venice's armies were incredibly weak, and they still are even though they are either equal with me in Military tech or 1 behind, don't know what their issues were, lol.

uno5_zps613db0ab.jpg

Result of aforementioned war and circumstances.

uno6_zps211cf69c.jpg

Bar and Alencon made quick allies, if a little weak. I had a lot of free diplomatic relations and nobody else important had a hardon for me at the time so I was like screw it. Also vassalized (forceful) Savoy, my old enemy afterward in a smaller war.

Any Breaking Bad fans out there? All this next image gets me is a quote from Mike Ehmantraut...

"All of this falling apart is because of you, you're pride and your ego..."

That isn't even the whole alliance, Papal States, and at least two other HRE minors are lower in the list -_-

uno8_zpsfb7f9b4f.jpg

Somehow (Thanks, Spain, couldn't have beaten France and eventually you without you) we won that clusterflock, although I didn't gain anything except for some ducats (I think it was 14% in our favor when I peaced out of it)

Below is my current Swiss snakeblob, planning on going further South into Italy maybe meeting Spanish Naples, although the border friction thing pisses me off and I don't want an enemy in Spain so we'll see, I might go east or further into France. Not a lot of colonizing going on by anyone, I took Exploration as my 4th idea, (the others are Economic, Defensive, Diplomatic, which I advance after spending money on the main tech levels, being 15 years ahead in a tech leaves me time to spend 400 monarch points
without falling behind, still staying ahead) in this way Defensive is one away from being maxed, Economic is at 5 and so is Diplomatic. I took Exploration after noticing Africa near my colonization range was untouched (by this time usually Portugal grabs it) but each France and Spain only have some islands in the Carib and a small string of coastal brazillian provinces. Overall a really fun game so far, will likely mod the end date if things go in my favor so I can play indefinately...

My Crimean Empire Part 2

Started this game with the aim of making an Islamic Russia. So far I'm on track, but I've reached this point where if I'm going to expand any further, I'm going to need to break a rule of mine. For the most part I don't attack when there are coalitions against me. In my latest war I choose to break it. Scandinavia, GB, Muscovy, Bohemia and the Baltic nations all attacked me. (FYI the reason for mammoth Ottomans is me carrying them the last 150 years. I'm planning on dealing with them later. >;) ) I have the largest army in the world, the 9th largest navy and the biggest income. I get obscene amounts of money from winning wars, in this one I ended up with just under one and a half thousand gold. I have an income of 100+ gold each month. This war money was not an issue, but manpower was. I lost over 30,000 troops in this war. I was against the other top 4 nations in army size. By the wars end I had knocked them all down to less than half of my size. The only thing that really swung it for me was that in the war before I forced harsh peace on Bohemia, they lost most of their manpower. I'm going to expand aggressively in the next 100 years. I want to claim all of modern day Russia's provinces, barring a few to give nice borders.
