my brandenburg>prussia(>germany) game

MVP for strange things: no hungarian cores left, even in hungarian-culture provinces
UsPqEF0.jpg

(what i think is what happend, spain got a pu over them pretty early into the game, and i think that they forced hungary to become castilian primary culture)

That grey land looks a bit unsettling if you're used to vanilla EU4, almost as if you have wiped out the population of Europe and it is now 'uncolonised'.

My Persia run, also grabbed Turning the Tide as i started as Qara Qonyulu

q7n4z6W.png

Hungary and the Commonwealth kept pestering me so i couldn't push into Ming and try to achieve Russias borders

QwFhPsq.png

Hungary /really/ capitalized on the Ottomans getting hit in the east and even won a war against me at one point (was sorely tempted to quit but i managed to recover). Scandinavia was my main ally near the end, and i picked up France as well in 1819 to form an alliance bloc to counter the Austrian, Commonwealth, Hungary super team. (Naples and Spain were attached to it as well depending on who was declared upon.)

I did a couple games a while back: Majapahit -> Malaya in 1.12, and Ottomans in 1.13. Here's Malaya, I'll probably post my Ottoman game a bit later.

The Empire of Malaya
yypnFA.png

Here's the player mapmode. Indochina & south China are a patchwork of protectorates, client states, and directly controlled territory. Oh, and my march Khmer.

F0iZt2.png

World map. More detail on the game in the spoiler.

b6YHK8.png

First, detail on Indochina and south China. Khmer is a march, Laothaya, Vietaya, and Nanjing are client states, and all the Chinese minors aside from Shun are protectorates (Shun broke free on their own). Most of South China was only conquered in the last decade of the game.

3jR17G.png

Here's my emperor. I had an alliance with Japan and eventually got the Ashikaga dynasty around 1700, if I remember correctly.

JTHKzS.png
Trade screen, Malaya dominates East & South-east Asia

GeIQHE.png
Technology: didn't quite complete Admin tech.

9Knvmo.png
Ideas: I suppose most would have taken Exploration as Malaya, but I wasn't really interested in colonizing the New World, and I felt like the colonist from Expansion was enough for my ambitions.

wx0vgx.png
Military screen. This was back in 1.12 so I only have 1 leader capacity despite being an empire.

n8L2gm.png
Here is India. Sind used to be powerful but were destroyed by Persia, Malwa, and Spain near the end. Note the amzing Kaffa in the corner!

25Xs9Y.png
Russia and the steppes are a mess. Crimea westernized early and used to be bigger, but ran into tough times, letting Theodoro break free near the end of the game and actually expand. Kazan is Nogai's vassal, so those borders aren't quite so bad. Russia was a big punching bag for the last century or so... the revolution didn't really help them.

vQ1ycj.png
Europe! France got a PU with Sweden early on (before I made contact). Sweden eventually broke free and was powerful for a while, with Norway being exiled to Iceland. France stayed around in Finland, and began reconquering their Swedish cores and returned a bunch of territory to Norway, which let them take most of the rest of Sweden. Also, Sapmi appeared!

tc04Ju.png
Here's Africa, with the awesome Kaffa noted before. Also, that is one nice looking Ottomans IMO.

D7qFNH.png
South America. Holland was ejected from Europe, and so set up shop in Brazil. But Brazil is portuguese speaking... and Haiti also has a chunk of brazil (Haitian Brazil, the lighter green colour). Chile is English, and Columbia is Scottish. France kept control of their colonies.

SVQRum.png
North America. Haiti is Portuguese and Mexico was too I think. Funnily enough British Columbia was colonized by the Scottish-speaking South American Colombia. California is a colony of Holland, in South America, while Nova Hollandia and Frisian Louisiana are colonies of Frisland. There are plenty of Spanish colonies too. And Revolutionary Russia in Baja California.

1I2Cat.png

End Screen!

B1OATf.png
And finally the religious mapmode. Look at all the Hinduism. Those reformed bits of Australia are due to English Australia which beat up my colony Ostraya once when I wasn't looking. I annexed them but Ostraya didn't have enough time to convert everything. Also of note, Holland in South America was Protestant, but the actual Netherlands are Reformed. And a couple of the chinese protectorates I made in the last few years ended up animist and led a bit of an animist revival there.

Here is my Ottoman game!

The Ottoman Empire

tQSlLs.png

Here is my Ottoman Empire! It's all directly controlled aside from Switzerland, who I vassalized when I was dismantling the HRE and didn't have time to annex.

gcbl04.png

And here is the world map! More detail in the spoiler.

hOZYYT.png

Accepted culture mapmode, and...
sp3bqw.png

Accepted cultures... all 44 of them! This is the result of Ottoman ideas + Humanist ideas + the Humanist-Diplomatic policy + Silk trading bonus + Enlightened Despotism. We are a very tolerant people. (I also used development to keep a few of them while I was expanding.)

pAomEM.png

Here's the ideas I took. I westernized by taking Wien so I didn't fall very far behind the Europeans. I took Diplomatic primarily for the Humanist-Diplomatic policy but it also helped with annexing vassals, so that was nice.

qpJ02e.png

Here's my religion. Since Humanist ideas boosted my heathen tolerance to 3, I decided not to bother with converting anyone after I got them.

vFTzsx.png

Here's an unobstructed view of Europe. Poland (not appearing in this picture) used to be very powerful, controlling what is now the Catholic Kingdom of the Golden Horde. The HRE got the peace of Westphalia and was split between Protestant and Reformed, with almost no Catholics in the Empire. Most later Emperors were actually Reformed!

Prussia only formed in the last few decades out of the former Emperor Pomerania, and Russia was formed from Novgorod and remained a republic to the end. The Netherlands was my loyal ally ever since I supported their independence from my rival Spain (also not appearing), and I gave them French and other land to make them look nice.

Oh, and Sapmi appeared again!

jKmikp.png

Here is Asia. I made a couple trade companies in India but otherwise left it mostly alone. Eastern Manchuria was a recent conquest of Ming near the end. The oddest thing that happened here was when Mexico annexed Japan entirely... they broke free shortly afterwards though. But even before that Japan struggled against Manchu invaders, who still control a few Japanese provinces. Despite all that they remained Shinto! (One final note: it may look like Persia extends into India, but that's actually Kashmir.)

AQvOxd.png

Here's Africa! I ejected both Spain and Portugal from Europe and they ended up in west and south Africa. Madagascar was a recent conquest of mine in my final war against Revolutionary France, and I also gave the Netherlands the Kongo coast in the same war.

6QWXPw.png

South America! Peru and Chile were English colonies, Brazil was Portuguese, and Colombia was French. I had a hand in freeing some of them.

TZlp2a.png

Mexico and USA were both Spanish colonies, while Louisiana was a Portuguese colony... they still exist in one province between USA and the Dutch colonies. Most of their territory was annexed by USA, who was allied with Mexico. California is Breton!
lOk7ia.png

Here is the religious map. While Protestantism and Reformed were both quite popular in Europe, none of the colonizers adopted them aside from the Netherlands. Nova Hollandia was founded before Netherlands converted though, so Dutch Louisiana is the only non-Catholic nation in the Americas (aside from some surviving natives in SA).

UnSwzY.png

This is a screenshot from 1776. I managed to mess up Spain enough that Pagarruyung beat them in a war, releasing Leon! Who I later vassalized. Thanks Pagarruyung!

UX1uDD.png

And finally this is in 1807, when I dismantled the Empire. I had achieved the borders I wanted and was searching for something to do, and I hadn't dismantled the HRE before.

eGz8yN.png

End screen!

what should my first idea group be; admin? influence? humanist/religious?

Edit: the rebs in okinawa came from westernizing, after completion I accepted their demands for 50 prestige, must've been just after this pic.

I hope my Salish playthrough counts since I reached the "Empire rank" I've definitely still got al ot to learn though.

Since the Europeans had a web of alliances and I had spare colonists I took a bit of the east, perhaps I might re-do this and declare war on ming next time.

I love how this game keeps on evolving and changing, everytime I don't play for a while and then come back to it there's so much new sh*t to surprise me.

Poland can into space (I finaly decided to give Poland a spin and get the famous meme-related achievement).

Poland can into Russia

Poland can't into Lithuania though :(

Ofc I could allways just do this, but meh, wanted to keep the Poland tag

Also I decided it was about time I testd the client state feature and found out that client states can be quite usefull - check out my little pokémon, Greek marsh. Helpfull little fella
