It is done, could and should have done better considering the start with Poland.. But hey, I've got two achievements anyway!

The thing im currently working on till Common Sense comes out: Savoy into Italy, using that bordeaux endnode before it vanishes (tbh, i started that game before i got to know bordeaux stops being endnode next patch)

Development so far:
bHroXYH.png

Didnt remember i got rome that early... anyway, the ball gets rolling. Breaking France actually was easy. What made problems later on was the aftermath... or should i say my "allies". I used Castile, Austria and Burgundy to pile on France. Well, until Burguny Inheritance happened. The burgundy you see here is already my Vassal which i just broke out of France again.

8nKHu0U.png

So i learned breaking France comes at a price if you dont pay attention... i gain territory, but so do my allies, in this case mainly Austria (and britain whom i foolishly gave cores back). And that bites me in the back, because Austria got pretty powerful and was a huge pain when i wanted to touch anything in italy.
Of course they would break alliance soon and turn into my main enemy...

Eventually, Netherlands broke free and Ottomans took the balkans. While Ottomans invaded Austrian mainland, i carpet sieged the low countys. When the Ottomans peaced out, i jumped on mainland austria with my vassals and Poland. Austria went into negative prestige, their king died and lost PU over Hungary and Bohemia. I broke as many countrys in the low countys out and the emperorship went to Brandenburg.

aiGcmOu.png

F****** finally. This is where it got easy, the turning point. Up until now Agressive Expansion was a Bitch, conquest felt so slow because AE built up huge in all of europe everytime i spreaded myself. But whoop-de-whoop, Italy has +50% better relations time tradition! AE cooled off much faster then and was no problem anymore.
Used Poland as new ally to crush Austria. So of course they would grow now... but that is so far away i dont care. Brandenburg never lost Emperor, so the HRE is actually free for taking.

Two last things that ticked me off: Couldnt get rid of England, because they were allied with Portugal, Castille, Aragon AND Russia! Im not immortal, i only have half of france and italy. Aragon itself was allied to Portugal and Britain itself... That was at least doable. Blitzed Aragon, wiped portugal and carpet sieged it until it peaced out, and picking off English troops after they landed.
I admit i used cheese here to get the gascogne, because its point costs were to high to get it directly from england, i waited five years until i got 100% due to having sieged all of aragon, then use that to ask for the english provinces. Then coming back for Aragon later on with the same procedure.

This is the current state:
JUAw8Z8.png

Im topdog now, at least in europe... World power hierarchy is ottomans->Russia->me->Castile->Britain
I'd love to get Navarra as last piece of my bordeaux node, but Castille is allied with ottomans... (and Britain...). Ottomans has double the navy and army strength of myself. That is scary. I ain't touching that shit. They blobbed hard into near east and africa.
Also Castille has huge navy. Britain has none, after i wiped it. They also have no army... something must have happened to them. I should take their continental holdings, but i dont see why... not interested in EC node.

I got my aim, Complete Genoa and almost whole Bordeaux node. I dont know what to do now, tbh. Its too late to go into asia, because Castille and Portugal are all over africa already. I'll probably just smash astria and creep my way into HRE as far as possible until the end.

Colonial empire:
Nht6OvH.png

I own Nova Landia (canada, is blue because sardinia-piemont), Nova Italia and Mississippi.
I can stear Mississippi->Ohio->St.Laurent ->Bordeaux + Chesapeake->St.Laurent->Bordeaux.

Yes, im very creative with names. Netherlands came into canada late and Nova Hollandia happened. I was amused, its pure coincidence, i had no idea its actually called that. ^^
Brasil got independence against Portugal (and its colonies) and Britain (and its colonies). They asked me for help, i said no, they got it anyway.

Religion:
MFZClo6.png

Whats out of the ordinary: Britain (and swede) are catholic. I think that is actually because im protestant. Protestantism started in Brandenburg i think, Denmark took second Center of Reformation, i took the third. None left for Britain, so i guess thats why they didnt change. Reformed ALL landed in middle europe, one in mantua. They were (especially the mantuan one) a huge pain for me, because of their damn "religious zeal" thing after converting, making it impossible for me to re-convert.
Protestant Poland is my best ally.

Rest of the World:
5tqLceZ.png

Pretty uninteresting i guess. Nothing out of the ordinary.

edit: I will prolly go an eat netherlands to get their canadian colony...

Funny note: Russia considered me their rival and had a Habsburg ruler, and the PU still went to me over Austria. Dynastic mechanics, yes!
I'm assuming Austria came to regret this war? Even if they have the entire HRE, I don't see how they don't get walked over by France, Aragon, Papal States, Commonwealth, Russia, Ottomans-sized Jerusalem & Ethiopia. Ouch.

They did. That's Sweden, by the way, not France. I didn't so much as lift a finger that entire war, buggering off to annex some Muslims and vassalise Venice instead (I was 4 miltech levels behind at the time since I filled defensive and quality sequentially without putting any levels into miltech) while my subjects and Sweden thrashed Austria. After a few years of being absolutely destroyed, Austria ceded all of their Venetian cores (Venice included), and Brandenburg ceded Neumark back to the PLC.

I played for two more decades this session. Bukhara went on to form the Mughals, but about half of their clay is Russian now.

That's a fascinating religious set-up. You've effectively KILLED Catholicism.

EDIT = Or, rather, shifted it to the fringe of Europe (and the colonies). Point is, it'd normally be the other way around.

Yeah, normally besides Spain, you have Italy and France as the big old Catholic countries (oldest daughter of the church and all that). But when you take those two over and convert them... well. ^^ Thats half of catholicism taken out. But its also big part luck, because all protestant and reformed CoR landed in middle europe (and none in scandinavia and britain where they would usually also land). So that brought reformed austria and protestant poland as nice bonus (poland vassalised lithuania and formed the commonwealth, so i excpect protestant to spread into the east a bit more).

My Albania can into 3 achievements empire.

It started as and attempt for the Albania or Iberia achievement, but with 70 years still to go after finishing that one I also had time for both Georgia on my Mind and Guarantor of Peace.

2015-06-03_00008.jpg

A few interesting notes from this game.

I was never Papal Controller despite spending all my points trying to be.

The only reason I even had a chance for Guarantor of Peace was that a random PU over Lithuania happened, and France went to war with me over it. I Fully occupied them and released everything I could and allied them again just after, they never held a grudge.

Spent most of the early game trying to become Emperor and just finish all but the last reform, but as it turns out it was not a good strategy since it was the only time France was hostile during the entire game (thankfully they never rivaled me). After I abandoned that route Ulm was the undesputed emperor for the last 150 years.

Played as the PLC. My second full Iron man game. I screwed up a lot; Kebab is too strong, I failed to colonize Siberia, and I did not become emperor or dismantle the HRE. But hey, I did ok.

Sorry noob question but how do you get that map view from your saved game is it a mod or am I missing something?
