Wanted to give the Netherlands a shot, started with Hansa, and took Exploration as my third idea set... Realised I really hate colonies and the nonsense tied with those, and started again after a hundred years or so.... Plus Burgundy was being a rather hard target, and I was slow to expand into him.
Second try, goes like clockwork (because now I had practice). Saxony wins the first election (dumb austria), so this does 2 things... first no reforms get passed (good when you are a republic) and second... My first war with burgundy caused the event to fire, and all his land went to Bavaria. This made taking "my" land so much easier...
France, Poland, and Brandenburg are my primary allies... so I'm able to expand rapidly... so rapidly I had pretty much all of the Lowlands by tech 8... and had to wait decades to finally form Netherlands.
During one of the coalition wars, I forced Austria to release Tirol... something I do every game to gimp Austria... and Tirol happily accepts vassalization (because I R Big). After I switch to reformed I take defender of the faith, and get dragged into a war to aid Croatia against Venice and the Papal state... An easy victory lets me snake Verona in order to annex Tirol. Once I had that cored, I took the mission to reclaim the Holy city.
Then after years of saving Brandenburgs bacon, he finally decided to go hostile after winning the election, and France finally rivals me. So I sit, and bide my time... looking to finish some mil ideas.
I needed to reshuffle my alliance web after losing both France and Bb...
However as I am the wealthiest nation on earth, It doesnt take long for Bb to realize his mistake and rejoined the fold.
So after finishing Offensive and starting Quality, I start beating on france. First war I dowed Britany, as France was his only ally, and I needed Bb to lose his french alliance to keep him honest. I was only able to take a couple provinces because 'double warscore cost' but I did manage to critically weaken France's manpower pool. Made the second war so much easier. I used up all my manpower in seiges, as I had to do little actual combat. That 30% seige bonus is actually nice. Made short work of the bagette and rebuilt Burgundy.
And this is where I leave it for snack time;
