Ming Empire. It's only the early 18th century, but I've done everything I wanted to.
What? Not going to take that Russia down a notch?

Actually, I don't blame you there. I hate fighting Russia. Not because it's hard to beat their units, but rather wandering through Siberia is just not fun.

Actually, I don't blame you there. I hate fighting Russia. Not because it's hard to beat their units, but rather wandering through Siberia is just not fun.

I already beat them once to take a few Siberian provinces (it would have been much worse had I not blocked off their colonisation a little east of the Urals), but there's still so many godawful 1 or 2BT Siberian hellholes between me and the even vaguely valuable provinces that it just would not be fun, and the manpower costs would massively outweigh any potential gain. I lost 200,000 manpower last time, and it's not something I particularly fancy repeating.

There's no doubt that I could do it, as I outnumber them 2.5 to 1 and have 120% discipline, better morale and a tech lead, but fundamentally, conquering the remnants of South-East Asia and crushing the Iberians in Mesoamerica (my Mexico CN started out owning only Baja California and has cored + converted everything by itself, remarkably) was far more rewarding.

That's what I always feel when I look at it too. It's not just what I can take either, it's a matter of sieging out all those provinces for minimal warscore before getting to the good ones. Could setup a large merc assault stack, but why do I want to torture myself?

what else are you going to be doing with that manpower though?

Unfortunately my British run ended due to me overextending myself by taking African colonies, resulting in the entire country rebelling. Which I could've dealt with, but probably not while fighting the league wars. :/ So instead, I started a new Brandenburg > Prussia > Germany game.

The current status of the known world:
N4gDCTl.jpg

Novgorod, the Netherlands, and Silesia are my vassals, with New Norway, Vinland, and Argentinien as my colonial nations. I'll soon get a Brazilian colonial nation, which will have the greyish green German colour, so my colonial nations will end up with three colours oddly enough. Lithuania is well on the way to exploding, being vassalised, and having its cores fed back to it. :) Sadly, they were in a war against France, which resulted in France killing a number of rebel armies.

On the to do list are to clean up the British Isles (ie - remove England), return the last of Netherlands' cores, and eat up Russia. Current long term goals are to remove France and the Ottomans and dissolve the HRE.

It's really not that bad if said merc assault stack has defensive ideas. Massed occupation doesn't just give you war score and provinces to take, it shreds their manpower recovery.

After my first botched war in our Taungu game, it was short work of them with the adjusted strats.

Oman1820.png

Oman and subjects in 1820.

Started off allying Hejaz, then began claim wars with the surrounding Bedouin minors. I took Humanism as my first idea group, which is a really good fit for Oman, which starts off surrounded by heathenry.

Once I had finished uniting the Arabian peninsula, I set out to impose my enlightened rule on the East African coast. I allied the Ottomans, took exploration as my second idea group, beat the infidels to the Cape (around 1500), then went on a colonizing frenzy, cutting off the route to Asia.

The westerners managed to finally break into the Asia-Pacific theatre after the mid-1600s; when the French, Spanish, and Portuguese showed up in Australia and the South Pacific. By that time I had colonized or conquered most of the islands between the East African coast and Hawaii. The cross-worshipers then tried to set up shop in India and were just starting to get comfortable when I decided to expel them from my pristine waters in order to control the world's seasonings.

I never westernized, and ended the game with tech and ideas maxed out.

My monthly income was around 820-850 ducats.

I'm now just fighting massive russia every few years (with inexhaustible manpower, great generals and an army twice the size of mine) and I just got in a 15 year regency so I got bored, was a nice run though
I feel like every time I play a game the great power near me becomes massive, wanna play ethiopia? deal with massive ottomans (russia really weak in the meantime), wanna play korea? deal with massive russia! (ottomans pretty meh this time)

Nothing worked in this crappy game. Severe attacks slowed progress, Ottoman super strong, Bohemia super strong. Fended off all of them but lost one war with Bohemia. Just went to war with them again and destroyed their armies but their allies came up with a 120+ stack and wiped me out before I could reinforce. I spent way too much time screwing around in the pacific, what a waste. It's ironman.

Lovely Korean empire. I'd go for eating the rest of China and Indonesia, fighting Russia in those low attrition siberian provinces is a pain.

That Greece too.

That Greece basically has the borders it really has today, that's allways a nice thing to see. This is the first time I've seen AI Galicia replace Spain though. :D
/ah, he's got them as a vassal, I didn't notice before. That explains it. ^^

Nice borders, but if you had conquered those two provinces Russia has east of the Urals it would have made it just that little more aesthetically pleasing.
