With admin efficiency and overseas expansion you can do it trivially.

Yeah, adm efficiency is a game-changer. Just make sure to stack up some ADM points before unlocking it, since that easily becomes a bottleneck in case of perpetual coring.

Still a work in progress, but here's my humble Ethiopia:
OzSX2AkfPe.jpg

Alodia, Makuria, Kilwa and Kaffa are my vassals. I kept the former two only around to avoid getting too much border tension with the Mamluks - but after they rival'd me I'll probably annex those, too. I even expanded into the Spice Islands - I took Exploration as my second idea group and I colonised these small islands on the left side of Sumatra. :)

But I don't know what to take as my fourth group. Currently I have Defensive, Exploration and Aristrocratic. I toyed with taking either Trade or one of the administrative idea groups next.

Anyone have some suggestion / advice on how to continue this campaign?
Should I gun for portugal / castille ?
Should I move my trade port to sevilla ? (my income right now is very poor)

Trade port in West Africa is fine - the key is to have the Ivory Coast trade zone locked down. Now you are Western and have Exploration, you can go east, cover Asia in trade companies/protectorates and become obscenely rich from trade. Alternatively, you could try to kill Spain/Portugal and collect there, but it will be much harder work.

Poor Ottomans... wants all my provinces :p

I started off taking provinces from Qara to form Iraq and an OPM Persia, then Adana and Karaman all within about 4 years - then released Eretna as a vassal/March, Iraq and Persia as vassals.

So of course a coalition was inevitable... the Timmies and Ottomans (and Golden Horde as an ally) formed a coalition which took only a month to trigger a war. I scorched some earth several times and waited it out.

The war took 'only' 43 years....

The war goal was Antioch and at one point the war score was -76% but then the Syrian rebels decided to come out of their huts and managed to declare independence. Now I had no option but to attack them and reclaim Antioch in order to get the ticking warscore in my favour. Slowly but surely the Ottomans had about 17% WE and Bulgaria declared independence. Byzantium decided their luck and took 2 provinces as well. This was the time to block off the straights and trap their troops on the other side. So I slowly managed to turn it around and got to 76% warscore in my favour when the dreaded call for peace came. I had them release a lot of provinces to Eretna and Persia, and I took Theodoro (was a Golden Horde vassal) which since has been given only 2 provinces so far as I have been focusing on Persia and Eretna as I want the Ottos out of this game.

Hejaz who was my ally before the war decided to backstab me and not help me defend. Now it was time to take revenge and in 2 quick wars I vassalized them.

Since then I have been waiting for the truce timers to deplete so I could continue to retake land from the Ottos and Timmies. Marches are great, they forge their own claims :)

Just finished integrating Iraq and my vassals are Hejaz, Persia, Aq Qoyunlu, Eretna, Theodoro and new to the family, Epirus and Adal. I am so far behind in dip tech and cannot even afford an ally. Hejaz was my ally but decided not to help with the coalition war so I force vassalized them as soon as I could after the long war.

One thing I really dislike is the fact that EVERY game I play, no matter in Europe, Africa or Asia, Spain and Portugal always end up rivalling me. Ah well... at least I am on par with mil tech so far.

You guys playing in North Africa are so lucky, for me playing Djerid it was all well the first 80 years, grew to about a little bigger than i am now. But then those Iberians came, i did not take any provinces where they had claims or cores but they have those militarist leaders and Holy wars CB. It doesnt matter if i have Ottomans as ally, they just kills his transport fleet. The worst part is that in the First Spanish Crusade (im at 5th now) they took a province in eastern North Africa stopping my advance into egypt...

Just finished up Manchuria. In a couple of years I'll finish up the Iranian Region as well.

From that point onwards - Ming -> Ming -> Ming.

The Commonwealth are my PU :D

79026EF1A3FE69060047363D6F88D2A21BB5EBDA

Congratulations but I will never understand how you all do that.

I mean, I am currently playing freakin OTTOMAN EMPIRE which is already extremely easy in 1444, I am playing extremely agressive to the point of nearly neglecting AE, I am playing more agressive than in my all previous games combined, I am playing the most agressive expansion in my any grand strategy gameplay ever and I have like 2x less provinces than this THEODORO which starts from OPM.

How are you all doing that?

I guess world conquest is not for me :p

You can go west but that means generally backstabbing your allies. It's against my policy.

Commonwealth is my PU. I need to get only 1 province in Taiwan and 1 in Finland in order to call myself The Great Goth :D

Terrrrriiiiibly behind in admin tech.

Well I started with Mamluks, arguably a 'little' larger than your country. Still took a while to get the Ottomans off my back but once that is done, it is relatively easy pickings. I am now waiting for the first crusade against me and my vassals (in 1591 and still no ally since 1450 or so)

You got further than I did with Djerid. I got the inside of Africa under Tunis and Sfax. I moved into tlemcen since Tunis was allied with the ottomans, won. A month later: "Tunis is now at war." "Spain is now at war" got rekt
