... h-how did you do that [Granada]? I'm not following what you mean here.

Get +100 relations with France, Enforce Peace on England to join the Hundred Years War on France's side, vassalise or conquer Navarra to get rid of the "distance" malus on an alliance and ally France.

Then you use France to beat the Iberians into pulp.

I came up with this same strategy a while back, but put an actual run on the back burner assuming that successfully allying France, which can be achieved every time, means assured victory. However, when I actually tried to get a game going, I had problems with Castile DOWing me before the end of the HYW and thus, France dishonoring the alliance. I was just about to abandon that strategy, but am now curious how you dealt that particular problem.

Is the Turk too far for an alliance?

What about the Berbers? Granted they arent going to be much actual help, when you have tons of allies, it generally makes the AI a lot less likely to dow. I'd say go over your limit until France is squarely on your side.

Tried this and it isn't possible for me with the current version. I can't Enforce Peace, because England hasn't 25% Warscore.

The Turk is a problem because of " Too many Great Power allies." I tend to be opposed to the idea of allying the Berbers because Portugal will DOW Morocco who will call me in. I'm forced to dishonor the alliance which kills my early prestige.

I finished my first full-ironman mode game a little while ago. I'd been playing EU4 for a year before hand, but I never tried ironman mode cause I'm a save scumming idiot. I finally tried it, and after a few different games went sour, I decided to try and get the Form Germany achievement. I thought the best way to do this was play as Brandenburg.

It went better than expected.

32kUIyS.png

I got the form Germany achievement, the become emperor achievement, the unite the empire achievement, the "make a huge as hell empire" achievement. I'm very proud of my handiwork, and I could have done better. You see Austria still exists, cause I'd never formed the HRE before that so I didn't know how that worked. I ALMOST formed a PU with Britain as well, but I was like "eh I don't wanna push it and screw up, after all, this is ironman mode". I had Hungary and Russia as PUs, everywhere else was pretty much diplo-annexed or straight up conquered. I got a few Indian provinces and Malaysian provinces out of the Russia deal, but for the most part, I am a huge as hell sprawling Prussian-based empire. And I love it.

Brandenburg is the country with the most chances to change their name, right? Cause I changed it three times. It wasn't even my plan originally to do that but hey whatever works.

Poland can into space, and winged hussars achievement run. Had to entertain myself along the way though, of course.
Tried to convert all of eastern europe to Polish culture. conquered too much to do that, as I stayed eastern and needed tech 32.
Accidentally gave that one province in anatolia to brandenburg a long time ago, eventually integrated into HRE. Didn't want to attack them, since I had 500,000 to their 800,000, along with their ally Muscovy, Brittany, Naples, and more, totaling over 1.5 million.

French region went from France>Burgundy>France>Brittany>Burgundy>France> to some mix between the three. chaos.
Notice a Castile with Spanish region but no Spain... they chained colonial wars to prevent the decision for some reason (must be at peace)
Muscovy was a shrively colonial snake to the pacific once I was done fighting them; they then conquered all of asia to become a super power again.

You can see the old world here. The red outline is the maximum extent of the Ottoman Empire. They were quite mighty. But how hard they fell, to just be hiding in Kyrgyzstan by 1820.

I'm rushing as many vassal-annexations as possible before 1.6/WON nerfs them. The Eastern Med is all mine, and the Ottomans will fall to me and Russia.

I have the largest army and navy, and I'm both Emperor (with 2 reforms passed) and Papal Controller (despite the Pope not existing anymore). Soon, I will have to turn on my Iberian allies.

eu4_611.jpg

Also, it seems the Ottomans will be in the coalition against me until they get annexed.

Very nice Granada. Shame you couldn't finish painting Africa, but a good run nonetheless. Did you westernize? If so, when?

He did Westernize. The western tech image is to the left of his nations flag.

Good point, didn't think to look. I'd still like to know when, though.
