I was going to raise you with my OPM-Mediterranean-Empire but ... damn ... now I feel like I wasted my time :D (well not really ... it's quite the fun campaign)

I REALLY want to get Malta but those pesky catalans don't let me land units ;(

The HRE made it cheap and easy...

I don't think I've ever played a single game past 1600. Hasn't been too bad beating up Russia. I got a 6/6/5 king for about 20 years so I was breaking truces and stomping Moscowy as much as I could. It's actually quite cheap to break those truces. Just a few questions, should I go for expansion as Russia doesn't want to colonise after I vassalised them. I was running 500+ extension for a while too but with 150 force limit (40+ gold a month on full enforcement) whack a mole is automated.

The golden hoard, Kazan, Tver and Muscovy are my vassals. I also have Brandenburg vassalised but I'm out of options for expanding to the west. I will beat up Bohemia next but I need more creative ways to become Emperor. I joined the Empire in the first few years as the benefits are necessary with such a massive Empire. I'm just on the lookout for decent vassals to feed in central Asia. I unfortunately missed out on Byzantium but I intend to smash up the Turk at some stage. Hungary's national traditions make her a very unattractive target to beat up. She initially owned most of Bohemia (it was down to two provinces) but I got dragged into a coalition war that I couldn't win. Charged my stack into theirs and forgot to put their reinforcement up!

So how to in HRE as Poland? I've got Quality and Artistocracy already so it's just a matter of teching for those future achievements. Ideally, I'd like to become Emperor soon. Any cheesy way of doing so? Alliances aren't that great when it comes to dragging electors into way. I already have Brandenburg but others seem harder to fool into direct conflict with me.

If I'm going to conquer central Asia, I'd much prefer massive vassal armies doing it for me. :D

Sell a land connection back to moskovy and he'll colonize. He cant atm because his capital doesnt have a connection... Let him colonize all of siberia, and that's all the vassal army you need.

Your going to need to get into some wars with austria if you want to HRE.

And lol at polish stability costs... like 30pts per stab... Break moar truces!~

Japan, did not go very well... But I'm proud of resisting to Russia after being broken by rebels 3 times

Yeah, It's generally a better Idea not to go for Manchu I found, the hard way. I've almost had a succesful run, only to be ruined by idiotic AI colonization leaving me a single day to westernize, combined with sheer bad luck of weak claim.

Bah. This is 100% confirmation bias but when I get a god-ruler he dies after 2 days.

I finally managed to get into EU4, I used to hate it but after forcing myself to play it, I managed to start my first proper EU4 game and it has been quite fun.

Started on Hard, no point in letting the AI hold back. It was quite a ride, got crushed by Castille and France right at the start, lost my French province and the PU with Naples. Managed to get France on my side later, now Me, France, Venice and Portugal are BFFs, and I am dominating the Mediterranean by 1530. Just destroyed the Ottomans completely, they had most of Balkans, so had to keep them contained.

Lots of roleplay and house rules, I refuse to blob out of control and I must keep borders clean and vassalize states whenever I can. Nothing gamey is allowed either. My plan is to control the Mediterranean, most of the coast of North Africa should be in my sphere soon and I need to restore the Byzantine Empire as soon as I can.

My Ottomans empire in 1477.

Muscowy is gone thanks to Novgorod, Perm, Crimea, Kazan and myself. Aq Qoyonlu have gone on a rampage. England wiped out scotland. France had a brutal succession war with Austria. Castille wiped out Aragon. Mamluks wiped out Najd but was on a standstill with Yemen, Oman, Hedjaz and Aq Qoyonlu with relevant vassals.

My Sibirians have just reached the baltic...

I was Orriginally going to try a migration game... maybe migrate to navara... However, since Sibir doesnt exsist in 1444, I had to kill some time just getting free. And the tech rate is sooooooo slow. I was going to avoid westernising... But techs cost 1000 pts a peice, AND you get a negative to point income. Typical Paradox double nerf. Sea to shining sea. I'm coming for joo Spain! (almost there!~)

Sibir should get free very easily. Just bankrupt Uzbek to @#%$ (take out a bajillion loans, hire +3 advisors as possible, gift all the money away, delete all your units, release vassal). If you want to gamble, release Kazakh first and then Sibir, play as Sibir, and don't even go for independence; simply annex Uzbek outright to take over Kazakh. Ally Timurids and start tearing up Kazan + Nogai before using scorched earth and switch stackwipes to trash Muscovy...or make a fast run at Ming and then engage Muscovy, which is still pretty easy to do until they get tech 12.

Once you have Muscovy down, it's probably a bit late to make a serious push @ Iberia with Nomad units, so you'd probably want to reform + westernize off Sweden. However, after doing so beating Iberia with a nation the size of Russia with 200+ years to do it shouldn't be hard. Just get access in France, invade Spain, and mountain bait them to death. By the time you get to this point Novgorod's land will let you core into Iberia directly so you don't even need fancy tactics.

[glances at these amazingly vast empires]
[stares at my Italy being crushed by the spanish and french, and my Teutonic Prussia who spent a century or two locked in deadly war against the polish and the danes at the same time]
How the dickens do you people perform such wondrous feats of map-breaking?
I'm way too jealous to properly formulate coherent sentences

Update on Commonwealth post, will get picture uploaded soon.

Just decided to annex Muscovy and take expansion to colonise myself. I started a WTF war with the Ottomans which Austria got involved. He occupied most of Greece so I gave him Greece + 10 provinces in the peace treaty. A massive coalition forms. As Papal controller, I just break marriage and alliance; join coalition and Ottomans + I completely smash him up. After this war I excommunicate him and leave the Empire as he revoked the internal war reform.

Found some electors allied to Denmark, beat them up and vassalised them. Since Austria was excommunicated, everyone voted for me. Meanwhile Austria was being trolled, France gobbled up the low lands. Using this, my first Imperial act was to kick France out of the Empire. Restoring Savoy, Brabant and Lorraine. Added 100 provinces to the Empire and everyone became my vassal.

It's sort of boring now figuring out how to blob more efficiently. I just discovered that ethnic rebels spawn their country's core on the region if they occupy it. So now I pretty much just run on 300% overextension and wait for Greek rebels to spawn Greek cores.

Ok, completely ruined that Commonwealth game. Went up to 600% overextension to see if it was manageable... Then a coalition war began so it's a nightmare with 20 stacks all across my Empire. :D

Just finished my first EU IV game ! It was quite fun and quite different from EU 3 ! Started as Muscovy, The original plan was just to grab the lithuanians lands you get a claim on after you form Russia and then turn my eyes towards Asia, but a lucky succession war got me in a PU with Poland, and I could release Byzantium from the Ottomans. I ended up unifying Eastern Europe under the mighty Russian crown (But not Istanbul! I was quite sad about that!).

I could have done better, but, well, It was my first game :3.

Of course, we had to teach the true faith to all these barbarians! ( Ethiopia is the only other State in the world following our beliefs, I wondered how they survived till the end of the game, then I remembered I was the defender of the Orthodox faith!)

Trivia :
- Never westernised and was ahead in military tech for most of the game (???)
- Bohemia is the Emperor, almost formed the HRE.
- Ireland formed from Connaught and survived multiple British invasions.
- France got beaten up early on, Castile dominated Western Europe... with a Jagiellion dynasty ! ( I fought against them over Poland).
- No independances in the colonies. I wonder why. They seem to have too much stability at the end of the game.
- I once had a king named "Semen".

I did not, and will not westernise. I released a swedish vassal from blobbed denmark, and started chopping up the ming.

Fights are rough... But I'm cranking super special russian horsies... and they are doing better. Once I finish my Norway vassal, I'll turn Norway into a western unit producer.

I'm actually 5 years ahead on mil tech, and only 1 tech behind the westerners. Taking aristocracy didnt hurt as bad as I thought... Partly to do with being able to kill bad heirs on a whim. I really want another milset, but I know it'll hurt. And I cant decide which one to get, defensive morale, or quality for more cav combat ability. I'm at 30% right now, and shock phases are all mine, If they dont destroy me with the fire phase. Every general I make has 6 shock pips... Very Niiice.

With a couple of years to spare. Mastah of the Middle Earth! (MediTerra ... get it ? get it ? Ah forget it)

> Moved to Malta
> Annexed* all of the vassals at one point so they are mostly catholic and theocracies (Byzantium are protestant .... and Albania was left orthodox).
* I did it in order to do some reorganizing (sold 2 of Algiers provinces to Tunisia; Released Sicily and sold them Sardinia and Corsica); Broke up Greece in 2 (Byz and Albania, Albania holding the northern part, Byz holding the soutern); Cyprus and Crete went to Tripoli (so they would be a bit less useless).
I wanted to separate the Mamluks on 2 (like I did with Byz) but I didn't have the opportunity to do so (more on that below; the part with the turks)
> Income from Vassals - 27.66. Total army from vassals at the date of the picture - 238k (after a war so they should be a bit higher in 1-2 years).
> Collect trade from Venice. At the end date I was collecting 100 gp per month despite the fact that my capital was on the Tunisian trade node.
> Naval forcelimit - 60. Sadly the turks killed my trade fleet (I forgot to bring them back to a safe port ;().
> Land forcelimit - 41. Generally I use them for picking up carpet siegers and strategic sieging (on islands and stuff)

> I REALLY wanted to beat the turks 1 on 1 but sadly they had Persia and Uzbek under PU and were allied with GB and France ... I had to make some strategic wars in order to drag in the French and I had to dump 5-6k gold every war to get GB off my shoulders.
> Austria, if the game had a couple of more years, would've probably revoked the privilegia (18 vs 9)
> Serbia was the reason the turks didnt expand a lot in the Balkans. They ate up Ragusa, Bosnia and Wallachia in .. the first 5-10 years. After that they took Dalmatia and 2 of the Croatian lands from Hungary. They lost Rashka to the turks and for some reason took Turnovo instead of it during the next war. (1 year before the end-date I DoWed the turks to return Rashka to the serbs)
> Castille and Aragon swaped a lot of land until I decided to screw with Aragon. Now they are a bit ... dead.
> The new world is a mess ... Mess (with a capital M)
> Russia ate up some Asia ... a lot of Asia .. All of Mongolia and Manchuria + some of the Chinese Region

If the Pope didnt own some random HRE land I'd vassalize him too but that's a bit ... not so Knightly to do (despite the fact that I switched to a republic soooo ... Merchants Hospitaller ?)

Looking at the map I probably had to vassalize Marocco as well but they were sooooo eaten up it'd look ugly :D.

The whole strategy was to try and contain the turks on the Anatolia (even if I get rid of them, someone else would've just replace them).
- With the Balkan block (me holding Greece as a vassal and Serbia having everything else except Moldavia and Bulgaria) they had to somewhere else.
- I vassalized the Mamluks in 3-4 wars (from Suez on west, the turks ate up the Levant) so they couldnt go west (not to mention I had the rest of north Africa as vassals already).
- Hedjaz had all of Arabia and were their allies, so they couldnt expand there.
- Persia we're their allies so the Iranian plateau was blocked too.
- The only place they could grab some land was Georgia and that's it.
- For the entirety of the game their lands remained pretty much the same - Bulgaria, Anatolia, Iraq and the Levant (until I retook the Levant). But even with only that they regularly fought off Russia and Austria to a standstill. TBH I was quite impressed.

========================================

Aw man the last year started so interesting ... Persia (I assume) attacked Ottos for independence after I finished a war with them to return Rashka to Serbia. This would be an interesting war to watch.

All too easy!

;)

I am really Curiouse how this happened...

Something must have gone horribly wrong in Iberia before I could see it. Explains why I had to take Granada from portugal I guess.

Didnt think much of it when I saw Navara with 2 provinces that no one else had cores or claims on... Guess Castile was over run my nationalists at some point.
