A Catholic King of Egypt.. Wonder how long he will last in the middle east.
His people cant be happy about them being ruled by a Catholic.
More importantly how did he get a a claim on Egypt ?
EDIT: Before anyone gets on my case, yes they're technically a separate church with their own history and liturgy and so on, but in CK2 terms we'd probably still put them under the Coptic umbrella.
Just an update on my Manichean Uldizanyan Empire campaign:
The glorious Uldizanyan Shahanshah, Khosrau III the Wise has continued his dynasty's efforts to establish the great Manichean Empire, both temporally and politically with continuous success. The heathens of Veligrad converted to the true faith upon the proselytizing efforts of the Archegos of the Manichean church itself. The Mokshet Kingdom of Old Great Bulgaria followed suit, however have lapsed into darkness several times due to infighting and the murderous intent of lesser heathen nobles. Fortunately a strong Manichean King has been established and tied to the Uldizanyan through marriage. Mani's light shines over the whole Steppe, all but signalling the end of Abrahamic and the other infidel beliefs in this area of the world.
Progress against the old enemy, the Byzantine Empire has been slow but steady due to only waging holy wars. Judicious use of assassins has pretty much been constantly required to allow for new holy wars against Byzantium. Being in possession of a claimant to Byzantium, Khosrau waged a war to establish the now-Manichean Helios II on the throne. It's unlikely he would live long on the throne due to his faith but will hopefully seek to destabilize Anatolia, leaving it ripe for an easy conquest.
By the time Khosrau IV ascends to the Uldizanyan throne, the empire stretches from Cyrene in the West to India in the East. The reign of Khosrau III ushered in tough reforms, perhaps the most significant was the establishment of Satrap-Shahs to stabilize and centralize the empire. So far this has prevented the total fragmentation of the empire, but several of the Shahs have occasionally plotted against the life of the Great Shah to gain their independence. As long as a capable ruler reigns on the Uldizanyan throne the Shahs can be kept in line.
By far the most interesting pope I've ever seen: had his first kid at age 15, presumably became a bishop after fathering 5 kids, somehow managed to become the Pope, only to rule for a week. And then the Church duly noted his life as an exemplary one.

Well he kind of really accomplished something amazing there even though in the end it lasted only a week. Definetely worth a praise, though "Saint" does seem a bit exaggerated XD No wonder he had the stressed trait after such a life ^^
After learning about the present-day claimants to the Kingdom of France (12) and the last dynastic claimant to the ERE, I added an event to my copy of the mod allowing people to continue to lay claim to titles even centuries after those titles cease to be feudal (France) or even to exist (the ERE).
Code:
character_event = {
id = emf_core.2000
hide_window = yes
trigger = {
any_claim = {
or = {
has_holder = no
is_republic = yes
is_theocracy = yes
}
}
}
mean_time_to_happen = {
years = 1 # Since the trigger can't discern between types of claims, this event will fire over and over for every character... A one-year MTTH seems sufficient.
}
immediate = {
any_claim = {
limit = {
or = {
has_holder = no
is_republic = yes
is_theocracy = yes
}
}
add_weak_pressed_claim = root
}
}
}
With this event active from 867 to 1300, my current character, Emperor Amédée Karling of Italy, has claims on the defunct kingdoms of Abkhazia (not held since 921), Asturias (1052), Brittany (1033), Burgundy (1084), Denmark (1028), the Isles (978), Italy (1055), Navarra (917), Sardinia (1040), and Sicily (1041)! As can be seen in the screenshot below, he also has claims on several dead duchies (mostly tribes that can't be resuscitated).
In many cases (though not all--for example, Andalusia somehow has zero claimants), I can see how the royal families have bred by scrolling through a dead title's claimants. For example:
- The claimants to the Kingdom of Italy (defunct for 250 years) are mostly split between Catholic and Orthodox.
- The claimants to the Kingdom of Navarra (defunct for 400 years) are mostly Catholic, but there's also a surprisingly-large proportion of Sunni claimants.
- The claimants to the Kingdom of Egypt (defunct for 250 years) are almost entirely Sunni.
- Every single claimant to the Kingdom of Iceland (existed from 1022 to 1088) is Catholic.
- The Kingdom of Crete (existed from 1081 to 1087) has no claimants, because all the children of its only holder died without issue.
I imagine that the excess of claimants is bloating my 150-MB savefile, though...
I've got a question: Is there an event chain or a decision or sth like this to form the Bulgarian Empire? Or do I have to start in a bookmark where it allready does exist? Would be somewhat super cool

It's a titular empire that can be formed normally, without any special event chain, if:
- Your culture group is South Slavic
- Your realm contains 120 holdings
- You control Tyrnovo
Thank you VERY much I'll give it a try then. Cause just making the Kingdom of Bulgaria into an Empire, does'nt give you this neat green color Just started again on this mod, it's like coming home... Imperial Decay seems new, it's kinda cool. Large empires don't ever really fall down in vanilla ck, so im looking forward to todays run^^ Now AI only has to learn how to form a great empire and then everythings perfect.
Edit.: I don't know if this is a bug or not, but a lot of titles seem to have very strange coat of arms... e.g. east francia has a white moon on a blue shield Is there a way to fix this?

Do you have any ideas for actual applications? Some that I thought of:
- Change the scripted trigger title_king_basic_allow so that a defunct titular kingdom can be formed by a claimant to that title
- Give some ticking prestige for having a claim on a defunct kingdom or empire (much less than actually holding a kingdom/empire title, but still not totally negligible)
(Or is an infinitely-triggering event with one-year MTTH simultaneously processor-heavy and useless?)
So lately Crusader Kings has been mirroring my own (bad luck) life.
I started as a catholic (super god of war) count in Tripoli 1329AD, with the plan::
1. Gain Independence. V Check!
2. Marry into House Lusignan. X Failed I'm a filthy count.
3. Gain Dutchy of Tripoli. V Check!
4. Line up again for the hand of the Lusignan princess. X Fail... well, now he's just being an ass.
5. Marry into the Hetumid dynasty. V Check, I prefer suntans anyways.
6. Wait for Papa Pope to call for crusade and claim my prize.
RAGE!
Things were going great at first, Crusade half over and I'm sitting pretty with 97% .
Then some leech.. de Bastardlona of Majerka, from the Kingdom of Arragant attaches himself with his 500 knights to my 10000 strong "heroic sons of Tripoli" army and somehow is credited with my victories.
And the real twist of the knife, he gives the kingdom to some randomly generated jerk and waddles off back to jerkville.
I see that I'm just going to have to convert to norse paganism and kill everyone.

I've had this happen before. It's exceedingly annoying to the point where I've intentionally thrown crusades before when I see this start happening. "Oh, so you just gave his 750 troops credit for what my 20k just did. Mmk. Well. Have fun taking the Holy Land without me." Board ship. Leave. Watch as the war suddenly turns in the enemy's favor.
