And, thinking about it, you should make the prettiest borders possible by selling land to vassals all over Europe.

And just because a nation doesn't exist at the start doesn't mean it can't rebel and become a power.
You shall be my hero if you form Germany with these magnificent borders. Or you could give up some of those claims on Poland and use the exact boarders of the German Empire.
I just wanted to form Spain with Aragon, but after forcing Castille into a PU, the king of France died without an heir - leaving me with an unexpected PU with a much bigger partner who tried to get out of it the whole time. After waging countless wars to expand my Mediterranean empire and matching France's strenght, I finally inherited them - both at the same time. Next step will be the annexation of my vassals. Maybe then I'll try to conquer Southern Italy.

I wasn't lying when I said everytime I play this game the borders are shit. I'm Netherlands this game, trying to take over the world without expanding my own territory and having vassals instead. Haven't even looked at the new world. Portugal and Norway are in a PU with me while tripol, greece, and Protestant Ottoman are my vassals.
What should I do now? most of the world is catholic but I have no idea how to challenge that Austria or Sweden.... Should I finally expand my normal territory? I don't want to slow down research.

Anyone who seriously complains about terrible borders should really just download the mod EU3+. It literally gets rid of any bad borders automatically, throughout all of history, and I've yet to have a game where I seriously stop to wonder why GB is in Scandinavia etc.
