But it is still a bit of a gamble because you need the right government - noble republic or any other electice government - and a good diplomacy ruler with 7-9 diplomacy to get a higher infamy limit and possible infamy reduction events.

Both my WCs have been as hordes. For the first one of them, the highest infamy I had was, as I recall, 4.
Dat Brandenburg, Algiers, Iraq, Norway, Bulgaria, Portugal, Epiros, Navarre, Ireland, Finland, Fez (In Libya? :blink, Aqualia... Is that a mod, and if it is, what is it?

My first (to the best of my recollection) successfull Byzantium game which I started in 1399. Actually there is still risk to be annihilated by AI, but decreasing.
I used Turkish and Muslim units more than 100 years, then now, I am using Western units. That's a shame.

It's possible , but you have to engineer it as it won't happen playing normally.

I inherited most of maghreeb, egypt is conquest mostly, Yemen inherited too, same with Hedjaz, and some other arabic countries.
Hordes got destroyed.
Persia is not allied to me, it is however my SOI... it is pretty weak, but strong enough to survive.
Hungary is 3 province minor with a COT in Ersekujvar(annoying). I got 2 oores on it's former provinces, because i got lucky with border disputes.
Most of the provinces i own in crimea, were polish and lithuanian provinces, i fought few wars with them
I was fighting like whole europe once or twice...
Bohemia is a dick, owns TO, and is quite strong
I am westernized, but not yet westernized military(tard king).
Btw. France is sticking d++k into castille LOL...

Prussia, vassals, and junior partners in union, 1662.
In 10 years Dresden and Anhalt will be cored, after then all that's needed is an inheritance of Mecklenburg and I can form Germany.
Mine looks better. I formed germany, then formed HRE. Most of france was diplovassalized BTW. Tripoli was christian and i inherited it(PU'ing everyone i can is my favourite thing to do). Novgorod will soon form russia.
EDIT: I am going to conquer mazovia soon, as i got mission on it, however only on 1 province which is capital(poznan) so i will propably just vassalize it.
PS: I never helped novgorod, i think i even got one or two wars with it... I took neva and ingria as you see.

How do you deal with massive crusades against you?
Huh, i have decent armies, and my cavalry is better than theirs. Plus of course i have mostly military NI's, which does help. Oh, and i am ahead of land tech with most europeans, because AI is tard as we all know it. I was tech leader in land for most of the game. Also it helps that ottoman units are better than western early. Plus sometimes i just concede defeat or spam them with ducats, if needed. Anyway those crushaders never managed to succesfully invade grece, and me having the best fleet helps a little, as no one of them dares come into lion's den. Plus the massive manpower of mine(300k manpower now), helps as they do not ussualy have the manpower to invade me succesfully. I keep small armies on perriferies of mine empire, and only one large army in the capital - to be sure no one takes it. Works greatly.
Bit eggagerating to call them massive, they are only like 150k, and propably whole europe, would be like from half milion to over one milion, not realy sure did not checked the ledger. I just keep them divided. And it helps that hungary, my only crushading neighbour, does suck in tech(LT 9... lol)
I see, most of my problems as Ottomans were in the relatively early game. Often I would find myself pitted against the Golden horde on one side, and the combined forces of Spain, Austria, England etc. on the other.
Well in my game, GH, was getting smashed by poland and lithuania, then later muscowy and i joined, while timurids just crumbled. Europeans did tried to make crushades on me from time to time, but i just used the fleet i built. Managed to kill venice fleet, which helped a lot, and then it was just question of how long can they send more troops, and how fast i can get what i want from my war targets. Most problems i got when france started invading morocco and algiers, along with spain and england, because i had my forces scattered around my empire, and could not bring enough forces to defeat them.
