My Irish Empire from the Death and Taxes mod. I managed to annex the Irish minors within ten years of game start as Munster and form Ireland. After one war with England that almost saw me out for the count I decided to expand my manpower by going after some Tunisa that had also conquered Tripoli. After two wars with them I had to let my infamy drop with the exception of taking two provinces from Teutonic Knights Norway.

EU3IrealndAwesome2.png

From this point on I fought four wars against England trying to annex me. It was touch and go. For most of them I had to buy mercenaries just to keep them at bay. Things started going in my favour when Scotland was almost annexed by the Danish. They allied with me and together I started getting revenge. I used them as meat shields while my troops kept the Danish doom stack from getting overrun. I managed to take Meath. The next one didn't go so well and we had to white peace. The Third was fantastic. I took Northern England from the English and liberated the Welsh. In the next war after I took Cornwall.

EU3IrealndAwesome.png

So that's pretty much where I've been at for the last few years. I went to war with Denmark and took most of Scotland after they bailed on me in a fight against Brandenburg. With my infamy this high I intend to sit out the next few years going to war with England when ever I can. I could have done a lot better earlier on if I'd worked out Scotland was the weak link in the British isles. Take it and then nothing can stop your troops from beating them. One last thing. I think this may have been easier than I expected at times due to the fact that England took a province next to the Golden Horde. The constant warring with the Hordes must have helped.

This is my Burgundy game played in vanilla with normal difficulty and no lucky nations. The goal was to have a Europe where countries that usually are easy prey get a chance to survive and flourish. I chose to play Burgundy because it looked nice, but as the game developed I kind of regretted due to the fact that as a member of HRE it doesn't have much place to grow and with penalties for unlawful territories. I think that France has a better chance for an early start in force. Anyway, the game developed nice, with England being crippled early on, and then with endless wars with France. At some point I quit HRE in order to grow toward east but then I made a mistake that I regretted later on by directly made vassals instead of conquer them, then make the province quit the HRE and only then release the vassals. This will haunt me toward the end of the game when unwillingly I became emperor due to the fact that I had vassals members of the HRE and I could not sell anymore the provinces that I conquered.
At the end this is the result of the game:

I just surrendered to the Golden Horde, and white peaced the Mamluks. All the war are defencive, except the one against France, they didn't take to kindly to me annexing Cyprus.

The Kingdom of Jerusalem, 1688. Unfortunately, the game didn't last much longer after that.

koj1688.jpg

I started out as Castille, rushed the Holy Land and formed Jerusalem pretty early on. Easily one of the hardest starts I've found in this game. No troops, wrong culture, zero income, and everyone you border wants to murder you. Some long waiting, heavy use of spies, and a good alliance with Castille and Venice, and I managed to survive and thrive, taking a good bite out of the middle-east.

Shortly after this point (1688) Persia declared war. It would have been a survivable war had The Ottoman Empire not decide to jump in to the fun with their alliance of basically every muslim country near me. Then Venice (who was not my ally by this point) and her ally Hungary, figured they'd take a piece too. By 1700, the Kingdom of Jerusalem was eliminated, and my game was over.

Fun things to note from the map:

Austria was annexed by Styria, and the HRE grew fairly large on French duchies after the collapse of France. Armagnac is a colonial superpower. Huron ate Iroquois, and I'm not 100% sure how, but even snagged territory from England after a couple wars. Seeing as England hasn't formed Great Britain yet, I'm assuming they have had their share of trouble. The Ottoman Empire is a republic. Ming grew rather large at one point, then next time I looked they exploded. They vassalized the Oirats and somehow the Khazaks and Chagatai both have Celestial Empire governments. Denmark ate Sweden and Norway early, and never imploded. They've been in a constant state of stalemate wars with Novgorod for most of the game. And to top it off, I had nothing directly to do with Greece (a republic) forming, and forming so nicely.

On a side note, making the map was a lot of fun!

That is..... beautiful. Just beautiful. If I didn't know better I'd have thought it was a real map.

Sounds like a fascinating game, shame it ended. You mentioned you were annexed by 1700, do you have a map of right before you were annexed?

I was wondering what mod were you playing, at first i thought it was D&T but then i looked at the projection and i saw it was like that of MEIOU. Then, after another look, i saw Hansa and the borders in Arabia, and i realized it was Steppe Wolf.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

do you have a map of right before you were annexed?

I don't have a screenshot, but I still have the save so I could get one. Not much changed internationally. The Persians made me release Syria, Iraq rebelled and managed to break away(Sunni Zealots and Persian sponsored Nationalists), as well as Ak koyunlu in the north. The ottomans took Allepo, Venice took Beirut. Najd and the Mamluks divided up the rest, with Jerusalem itself going to the Mamluks.

Incredible map! What did you use to make it? Any overlay maps? How long did it take?
Really, that's probably the greatest fan-made map I've seen so far :D

Thanks! I made it in Gimp. This map in particular (I have several others in this thread) took the longest, at about four hours. Painting the map is quick and relatively easy, but all the annotation on the map takes forever. I wanted to do more to be honest (Capital cities. colonies, etc), but figured less was more and just posted it as is. Next time I think I'd like to throw in religious, trade and an HRE map, just for fun. Of course, by then I should just put together an AAR.

I was wondering what mod were you playing

Believe it or not, Vanilla EUIII. I used the Victoria II Map to paint this map though. The EUIII map is great, but the VicII map has a nice appeal. To match them up I just reprojected the EUIII screenshot to match the projection of the Victoria II projection (A miller projected map), and painted the matching colours.

I totally agree with that statement. Fantastic map. I'd love to see more maps of your empires in the future.

Thanks! I have a bunch of others in this thread already (though this is my favorite so far), and I'm sure I'll make more.

So in addition to my current AAR, I've also been doing a Steppe Wolfe game as the Teutonic Order on the side, and though I'm only about twenty years in, I figured that we've become large enough to warrant a post here.

fniKw.jpg

This is the result of a long war in which I annexed Pskov, Converted Vladmir-Suzdal to Catholicism, and Took away a good chunk of the Land that the Vikings had. As such my infamy is through the roof, and my economy is tanking, but due to Steppe Wolfe's crazy economic system it should all be cleared up soon enough, and then I can continue to expand.
