Hope someone can tell me if this can run C.S. If it can it's gonna be my first real computer. have to this point only had notebook styled laptops.

AMD FX-8300 3.3GHz (4.2GHz Turbo), 8 cores
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
16GB of DDR3 Memory running at 1600MHz

I don't know if it's upgradeable but I guess it is. I don't know anything about computers. but I do know there is something called ddr5 rams. witch im guessing are better than ddr3..

fierce-exile-gaming-pc-desktop-computer.jpeg

p.s. is any of these the video output. I see the blue square thing. but is there another?

Not sure exactly what you are asking... are you planning to buy that computer... or you have already bought it?

If you already have it, you most likely don't want to plug your monitor into any of those ports since that is the motherboard... you would want to plug your monitor directly into the graphics card.

But to answer your other question, about which one of those ports are display ports... the blue one and white one next where it says foxconn are both display ports. The blue one is AVI, and the white one is DVI-D port. To the right of them, the black port is a HDMI port.

And yes that computer can definitely run Cities Skylines... though its definitely has an outdated CPU platform. If you haven't bought it yet I would recommend something newer.

I'm planning to buy it.

the picture is from the website selling it. I was unsure of the connections since it wasn't listed there. I wanted to connect the screen with a HDMI. :)

is the CPU platform the AMD thing`? and can that be upgraded at a later point if I choose so?

But anyway since it can run it. I'm gonna buy it. It's a price issue. I can get this machine at a very low price (half) compared to other PC's I have seen with similar specs :) I have a 600$ budget btw.

anyway thanks for the answer

Yeah its the AMD processor that is issue.

AMD FX processors are very out date, they are from 2011... while they will give you decent performance its hard to recommend them since they are basically considered low end processors now. And the issue with it is that its using the AM3+ chipset motherboards... meaning the RAM type, CPU, and MOBO components have all been discontinued. Meaning if any one of your components fail you are going to have a hard time replacing them... or you are going to have to over pay for outdated parts due to scarcity. Also the AM3+ chipset can't be upgraded down the road since the newer AMD Ryzen CPUs use the AM4 chipset.

I am sure you can build a better computer yourself with your $600 budget. Do you live in the US? If you do I can probably help you chose out some parts to meet your budget.

No I live in denmark.. and we have taxes... on everything :D thats why I hooked on when I saw this. because it's half price compared to other cheap (but with specs) PC's I have seen :)

for the same price I can get a
AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 4 x 3,50Gz
Radeon Vega 8
8GB 2666Mhz DDR4

Guess it a newer processor.. but less powerful computer.?

That is outdated and not supported anymore. It does have 8-cores that supports this game though.

The GTX 1050 is a dedicated video card and has it's own DDR5 video RAM (vRAM)

In the picture, the center black single port is the HDMI port. But you want to use the one on the GTX 1050 that will be located down on the rear PCI slots on the back of the computer.

This one has only a 4-core CPU, and the graphics GPU (Radeon Vega 8) is low powered and built-in the CPU processor. It will also share system memory (RAM) so it will take away from your 8GB DDR4 RAM, so it will leave you with only 6GB RAM as it can use up to 2GB RAM to run the graphics GPU. The 2666MHz speed of the RAM is good for the CPU, but the graphics will do better with 3200MHz RAM.

I would have to recommend the newer one as it is upgradable. You will need to upgrade the video card first, since the GPU is integrated onto the CPU. i.e. if you replace the CPU, you will have no graphics. Then replace the CPU with a 6 or 8 core Ryzen CPU. You may need to upgrade the RAM first, depending how well it runs for you. I had a 2200G with 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM. I made a performance worksheet if I can find it. But is was playable at stock speeds & 2,400MHz RAM. I was getting around 24fps on a 6-tile (125k population) city and just under 20fps on a 9-tile city (250k population). But even with a dedicated video card, it will struggle to get a steady 30fps on any system.

thanks for the answer.. I'm going for the first. the old one. since it can play the game. I'm not going to play any new games anyways. and since the lowspec computer would need upgrade I might just buy a better one from the beginning IF I could afford it. So I better of with the "old" one.. for now anyways :)

Opinions on this build please.
I haven't yet built it yet so any components are changeable.
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4ghz 6 core.
ASUS Prime B450M.
32gb Corsair Dominator DDR4 2666
MSI Radeon RX 580 8gb Armor oc.

I think DDR4-2933 is recommended for Ryzen, and they'll benefit from DDR4-3200.

RX 580 (roughly GTX 1060 6GB) is nice, but Vega 56/64 would be better for other games,

Get a decent copper CPU cooler. Stock is fine, but you may want to overclock, plus added video raises temps, they throttle when hot, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Dominator can be very expensive. I recommend the Ryzen optimized G.Skill FlareX.

I think the MSI Tomahawk B350 is still the best MB, the B450 Tomahawk is about as good.

With the money you save, you might be able to afford Vega or 64GB RAM lol

If you are playing on 1080p then that system is perfect spec wise.

I would recommend against getting the Corsair Dominator unless you are just buying it for cosmetics. There are cheaper RAM kits out there that offer higher clock speeds. Just type in 3200 mHz DDR4 on Amazon if you're American and can see 32 GB 3200 mHz kits going around $250-270, while Dominator from what I can see is like $300+.

Also I would recommend against getting and MSI "Armor" Cards... the Heatsink / Cooler on their "Armor" line of cards aren't as good as other brands. The heatsink is usually a lot smaller than other models and brands, and their fans are smaller too which means it dissipate a lot less heat and is noiser. I would spend the $10-20 more to get a model that has a better cooler, though from what I can most RX 580 from other brands are actually cheaper than the MSI Armor card on Amazon so...

Actually the i7-8750H is rated at 2.2GHz. The turbo is a rare feat to accomplish in a laptop as they overheat too easy and you'll likely be in the mid 3GHz range on average. Depending on the game and laptop cooler.

They rate them at 2.2GHz as that is the only guaranteed speed it will operate. Turbo is a pipedream and never be reached except the lightest of tasks. But never sustain in any real game.

Do you have the laptop make and model number? This will give a better idea of it's performance capabilities. In theory it should be much better than your desktop if it can manage great cooling. a little undervolting may be needed as they are usually overvolted for a worst case scenario. This will give a little better performance and run a little cooler at same performance.

Since a few months, I have the impression the game is not as fast as it used to be when I get to 150 000 population. Can you tell me what you think of my pc configuration or what I could do to improve it please ? (increasing Ram is scheduled).

Everything look overkill to me.

What issues are you having? This game does not have high FPS. Workshop will slow things down as well. So more workshop equals slower gameplay.

Everything look overkill to me.

What issues are you having? This game does not have high FPS. Workshop will slow things down as well. So more workshop equals slower gameplay.

I tried to limit my mods but indeed I had the 81 tiles mod which slowed everything but I deleted it and yet the game is still slow. I still wonder how much vsync affects the game ans what to do with it?
