Im looking to build a pc to play cs.. sick of playing on ps4 and want to be able to use some mods and assets. Mostly all the roads and cool interchanges etc. Possibly more tiles

Initially was thinking amd 2400g
Decemt graphics card.
16b ram.

Now I'm looking at ryzen 2600/2700
16gb ram.. 24/32 later on.
Radeon rx 580 dual gaming oc 8gb graphics card.

Is this overkill/good pc/or not enough.

Thanks for you help.
Cant wait to get cities

I think it is perfect. the rx580 is about the same as gtx 1060. it's a decent midrange gaming card for 1080p/1440p monitors.

the 2600 is fine. it has 6c/12t and this game uses 8t. that leaves 4t for workshop. The 2700 may be good for other games.

16gb will let you have about 1,000 workshop assets.

Thanks for your help, just couple more questions,

From what i can gather ram is the killer for this game when using assets? Also does the type matter, 2133 vs 3200 or anything in between will do.

Finally, would a ryzen 2400g be suitable or is the extra cash spent on a 2600 the only way to go.

Max speed AMD supports is 2933MHz. I read people still benefit from higher clock speed.

I recommend 16GB RAM minimum. Cities.exe on a vanilla map can take up over 8GB by itself. With windows and other apps using 3GB of RAM at boot to desktop, this leaves only about 5GB of ram for workshop, which isn't a whole lot. But considering you only end up with a few hundred assets in actual use, you can get by with 16GB if you're selective on workshop use and just not go window shopping subscribing everything that looks good. I highly recommend only subscribing to things when you need to plop them or mods when you think you need them. Not subscribe to, so called, must have mod or asset collections.

Finally, would a ryzen 2400g be suitable or is the extra cash spent on a 2600 the only way to go.

I would only recommend the Ryzen R5 2400G if you don't have the budget for a video card right now. If you can swing the video card go for no less than a Ryzen R5 2600. But, the 2400G will get you through to the 9-tiles of the vanilla base game. Past that, it will slow down, not sure by how much as I only have a R3 2200G and 16GB RAM that has a weaker CPU and GPU.

My 655k pop, 9-tiles, no workshop city lags pretty badly. It takes about 25 seconds for a day to expire. My FPS are very low at 15fps average.

Well I have a question. I recently bought Cities Skylines on Steam and loving it. But my PC is really old so would be no use posting the specs here. So I'm asking suggestion from you guys that I want to buy a new PC and what specs should I get. I just want to run the game smoothly and don't require and fancy 4k or anything like that. Even if it runs in 720p I'll be fine. My range is around 400-500$. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

You'll need to post your specs so we know what you have to build off of. For that price, you don't have enough money for a complete system.

Well I have Core 2 Duo 2.9 Ghz processor, 4 GB DDR 3 RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, NVIDA Geforece GT 630, Cooler Master 500W Power Supply. I know the board, processor, graphics card have to be upgraded. Like I said even if it runs at 720p at 30 frames per second, I would be happy. So any suggetions?

You could try a:

Ryzen 2400G $160
16GB RAM (3200MHz) $165-$200
Z470 motherboard. 150-200

I know the board, processor, graphics card have to be upgraded. Like I said even if it runs at 720p at 30 frames per second, I would be happy. So any suggestions?

The 2400G graphics are decent with DDR4-3200 RAM to feed it. Then you can get a graphics card later, and a 6-core CPU or better later on.

The 2400G had 4core/8threads for good CPU performance to get you past 9-tiles.

The 2400 graphics are fair, but no video card will sustain much over 30FPS. But you should sustain 20-30 fps within 9-tiles.

You will be extremely limited on workshop still. But integrated graphics will use up an extra 2GB of your RAM. But you should have 6GB of RAM for assets if you want. Maybe some minor mods that don't stress the system much.

Just make sure the motherboard has the proper video outputs, or has one at all, as some don't come with graphics ports.

If you have money left over, you can get a 500GB SSD for $100, or a 256GB SSD for under $75 to use as a boot drive and you can repurpose your hard drive for for Steam only, or all games only.

I don't know if you can do much better for that price range. But it will be significantly better than what your have, with room to grow.

Getting ready to purchase and build my pc, have decided on ryzen 72700, with a 1060 3gb-6gb gpu, depending on funds. Im a bit stuck with ram though. Is there any scenario where 32gb ram would not be enough. Trying to decide whether to go with 4x8gb sticks or 2x16gb sticks to allow room for more ram if needed.

Thanks very much

( It used to work just good have over 357 hours on it last time it worked good was 3/13/18 ever since green cities came along I had issue with it ) just not fair
Cities skylines has never been supporting integrated GPU's. You are lucky it worked before, however then it is just a question about time when it won't. Cities skylines has received plenty of updates to improve the engine and game itself.
