so after multiple crashes and several restarts, its now unplayable with mods on my laptop...
  • around ~45 mods and around 402 assets on current campaign
  • 10+ minutes to load a 0 population city(im currently just building the layout and other buildings before i add homes into my city)
  • sometimes its as bad as 20mins to load that save
  • worst case scenario game crashes and i have to restart my laptop coz its also crashes my gpu driver..
  • loading screen mod says: 6.25 GB ram used.. i noticed it doesnt turn red until around 4.5 to 5gigs...
so i guess no longer cities skylines during between class breaks for me lol...

so i played my current save on my desktop with the same amount of assets and mods, and i've noticed that:

  • it only took around 3mins to load my save file..
  • i noticed it turned red around 10.5gigs ram; open hardware told me that my desktop system took max 14.2gigs ram usage, i forgot to check the history graph what was the usage while ingame lol
  • fps is around mid 40's, since im playing in 4k resolution...
  • i'm confused; its the same save file from my laptop, same mods and assets activated, yet loading screen is telling me 2 different things regarding ram usage.... im just wondering why?!?!

so i don't care if it took 10minutes to load my save file or if my fps on desktop is at 20fps(which IMO still playable).. As long as i can load the save and not CTD, im going to be happy playing skylines and support devs by buying dlc lol..

So according to the links you provided and this thread on steam, i should be able to push it to around 1000 assets....
im just wondering what other essential mods/assets/props i needed to make my city "pretty".. i think im done adding uniques, office/residential/commercial buildings...

Please start a new thread. This thread is for system requirements, not troubleshooting.

So it's New Imac I just buy :
iMac 21,5 Retina 4K
Intel Core i5 quadricœur de 7e génération à 3 GHz (Turbo Boost jusqu’à 3,5 GHz)
8 Go de mémoire DDR4 à 2 400 MHz
Disque Serial ATA de 1 To à 5 400 tr/min
Radeon Pro 555 avec 2 Go de mémoire vidéo

RAM is a little low. You may be able to fill 9-tiles with CPU & GPU.

my computer specs is
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1500x
GPU: GTX 1060 6gb
RAM: DDR4 16gb
OS: Windows 10 64-bit

This should get you to 9-tiles easy, maybe even 81-tiles if you go easy on workshop.

I have the same question. I have 16 gb RAM, I7 8700k and a 1080ti 11 gb, Samsung Evo 970 nVME 500 gb. I'm currently using 1.300 assets approx and 25 mods. All the settings are ultra, I use the Ultimate Eye candy in 5k (native res of 2k) and it works nice. It takes about 55 seconds to load. When is it going to begin lagging? At what population ?

Added another 172 assets yesterday and that made my loading time noticeably longer.

I've had populations over 600K, with no lagging. FPS goes down, but no l a g g i n g like I had on the laptop with 12GB that I used to run it on.

will a ryzen 5 2600 be better than a 1500x for city skylines.

Yes, the 1500x is only 4c/8T, while 2600/1600 have 6c/12t so you can run workshop without interfering with the game as the game can use 8t.

Maybe 2700 for 8c/16t?

I7-8750H
16 GBs RAM @ 2677 mhz
GeForce 1060
Samsung Evo 970 nVME

How crazy can I go on the mods/assets? Before I run out of RAM?

16GB RAM is roughly 1,000 assets.

i7-8750H should run most everything fine.

The 1060 should be fine as well. But take it easy on the graphics mods or you'll get low fps (below 30)

Remember, laptops aren't as powerful as the desktop parts, so expect below average performance.

I have a rather old PC, how far can I go (if at all)?
i7-920 CPU
6GB Ram
GTX 750 Ti 1GB
SSD drive

That's starting to show its age. But you should get 9-tiles packed full with ease still.

6GB is a little low. I recommend 16GB+

Workshop is extra and may slow you down.

Well this'll be my first post here.

I'm running a Mac. (2015 iMac retina 27")

Processor: 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 24 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 M380 2 GB

Also, I'm running off of an external hard drive. Would that affect performance?

Thanks in advance! ;)

it depends on the speed of and how the external drive is connected. a 5400RPM drive via usb 2 would not be a fun experience. why use an external drive at all?
