metacritical, thanks for the useful and fast reply. I got the message. I will change the specs and will go for a GTX960 GPU.

I can play the game at work
Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 500. Is it good enough to play Cities: Skylines?
-Intel Core i7 6500U, 2.7 GHz
-NVIDIA GeForce GT 940M
-8GB RAM
-Windows 10 Home 64bit
If it won't work, what computer do you recommend?
I recommend a desktop computer. Laptops are just not meant for gaming. They are meant for portability, which means low power from running on batteries.
That laptop is kind of weak. It will play the game, maybe to the default 9-tiles. but after that it will lag bad.
If you have to have a laptop, then I'd suggest not getting the U series CPU. Get the HQ series. The 6500U is only a dual core and very weak. 940m is very weak as well. It may give out before the CPU.
Post a budget and we can offer a recommendation. Ususally around $800 for a decent gaming laptop. Remember, this game is very cpu intensive. It will drain your battery fast. Don't expect much more than 30-minutes of play time once your city starts growing.
Hello,
Thanks for replying quickly... My budget is $900-$1000. I found another computer, the Acer Aspire V15 Black Aluminium Gaming.
Here are the specifications:
-Intel Core i5 6300HQ
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950
-8 GB RAM
-Windows 10 64bit
Let me know if this one is good or if there are better computers in my budget out there...
Thanks
Hi, I have a PC that most certainly exceeds the recommended specs but I still experience fps drops when zoomin into my city
My specs:
i7 6700
16GB DDR4
GeForce GTX970 (OC)
Win10 x64
I'm running the game in 1080p/59Hz maxed out, and when I'm zoomed in my framerate is being almost halved (35-40fps). Is it normal?
No way, and it's over priced. You need an:
i7-6700HQ
GTX 960m
16GB RAM
Should be between $800 - $1,000 USD.
Here's one for $970

Here's an i7-4720HQ, 16GB, and the much better GTX 970m, but at $1,050.

I found another reasonably priced computer, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y50-70 Black, with a 16 GB RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M GB, and an intel core i7 4270HQ Haswell... Is this computer worth spending $100 more than the Acer Aspire?Well, you can get by with a GTX 950. It will handle 9 full tiles of the game. Will probably get through 25 tiles if you stay away from the workshop.
he 6300HQ is a true quad core, so it should be fine. It will go past 9 tiles full with ease. May get to 25-tiles full is micro management is good.
16GB RAM will handle the game just fine.
Hi... Is having 16GB RAM a huge plus from having 8GB RAM?I would pay the extra $100. The i7 has hyper-threading which will benefit this game and give about 20% performance boost. The 960m is a little faster than the 950m, so maybe a 20% boost on video performance.
yes and no.Hi... Is having 16GB RAM a huge plus from having 8GB RAM?
thanksyes and no.
you don't entirely need it right now, but it's a nice buffer and will come up eventually.
im just going to answer my own question and assume an i7-6700 (non k) with a 1070 and 16 gigs will play this no problem.
