I'm doing almost the exact same thing as you, Tapio, in my India game. Except I started out as the double count Gupta, under the King of Pala. I've also been switching between religious like a cynic. Instead of holy warring them, I took over the Abbasids by forcing a marriage between my heir and one of his daughters. Then, in a generation or so, it's one war for the Empire vs countless Holy Wars.

I see you also suffer from way too much gold.

Taking a break from my Italian game and trying some Muslim fun

I just got control of de jure Hispania, so now I'm just gonna take it slow and RP while titular titles like Portugal and Aragon become cemented. After that I might go straight for Sardinia and then Sicily for a nice plausible ish border.

This game has also been wacky. The Karlings pushed their claim for Bavaria, and then the Bavarian Karling (he became German) inherited all of France. Wudikund's Saxony broke free and Germany also broke free. Except now gavelkind is gonna destroy this Bavaria blob soon since the current Karling is getting old. Maybe after Aquatine pops up I can snag it for myself?

Oh and the Lombards at one point owned all of Africa(kingdom). Those pesky Abbasid pretenders are slowly taking it away. If only I could ally the Lombards to help them out

My name is Rene, and I'm a blobber.

This is an Ironman Nomad-into-Feudal run with the final goal of achieving "Survivor". As you can see, it's going fairly well. I took the above picture right after getting "Looking East and West" (which if I count correctly is the ninth achievement of this playthough) but gave Rajastan away to a member of my dynasty almost immediately. I guess there's not really much to do in the last thirty or so remaining years, though I just may invade Byzantium for "historical accuracy" and trigger the end of the medieval ages.

Picture is a couple years old but I formed Alba. There was briefly a small defensive pact opposing me that blew up after I landed an Iceling claimant in Leicester to conquer Mercia after a series of smaller wars, but I have now crushed it multiple times and the only independent member left is Hwicce (formerly part of Wessex, which I seized by landing a Venetian with a weak claim).

Oh, and Lothian got captured by a Jyllander duke's prepared invasion so I was able to holy-war for it. There is now, I kid you not, a Norse enclave in the south of Scotland under an ethnically Lombard Irish emperor ruling from the Hebrides, with an ethnically Saxon Norse Catholic duke ruling over Irish and Pictish counts who has a claim to Akershus I can use. I foresee eventually pacifying the Norse by extolling Catholicism and converting Jylland into an Irish merchant colony. Make money, not war!

Also not pictured, I seized Galicia from the Umayyads. That's the sixth time I have partially or fully kicked Muslim ass.

Probably nothing special here as i'm not a big CK2 player. This is the best Empire i've managed to form, it's pre-Conclave. Started out as Count of Osterreich in the Charlemange start date and built up and out. I started it like a year ago maybe and played a little here and there. I got a lot of my land via Crusades as the Muslims had conquered right up to the Rhine by 860ish. Then I just started picking away at Francia/France whenever they were weak and not allied to Italy. The Ruthenian area has consolidated and blown up multiple times an the Hungarian region turned into a little pocket of Sunni religion that has been slowly getting whittled away. Byzantium ended up turning Catholic and only 3 Orthodox provinces remain in Malta, eastern part of Crete and a random province up in the steppes. Scotland conquered the British Isles though it's really hard to say who conquered who when there are few actual Scottish provinces left and it's mostly Anglo-Saxon. Of course I put my dynasty on the throne of Scotland and helped them usurp the Emperor of Britannia so now it's being ruled by a German. Was also amused that somehow the Kingdom of Germany appeared...but was mainly confined to the lowlands until the Norse took a big bite out of them.

I had initially kept the 4 kingdoms of Bavaria, Burgundy, Austria and Middle Francia balanced until a weak ruler let them lower crown authority and all hell broke loose in the empire settling into a very strong Austria and Middle Francia kingdoms who have to be constantly appeased.
