This is long from done, but this is just over 100 years in. I started as Adelaide, Countess of Vermandois in 1080. My goal was to restore a Karling back onto the throne of France. It's more of an interesting story, rather than a land grab. I tried going right for the throne through war claims, but that didn't work, so I went in the back door. Through Navarre, and through marriage. My husband (mysteriously) died, so I remarried matrilineally. After that, there was no stoping the Karlings. With the help of multiple female rulers eager to marry, it was easy to marry my sons into several Spanish kingdoms. Fast forward 100 years, and my great grandson is now King of France. He is King consort of Leon, and his grandson is married to the heir of Brittany. Next stop, the HRE.

An update on my Wallachia game:

CK9x7huYZN.jpg

Anwmsenjun.jpg

hFbCqCfCem.jpg

Spreading my faith became easier after I ceded some bishoprics to the Coptic Pope. He's now sitting in Kiew, with vassal bishops all over the Rus. Most of my vassals are either Pechenegs or Russians while Kiev is the seat of my heir/his wife. I micro-managed my family for at least a century to prevent my neighbours from inheriting claims on my kingdom. I mostly intermarried with the Russians and the Greeks - as the Mongols are now Nestorian (the Ilkhanate subjugated the Golden Horde again), I can secure an alliance with them to get at least some protection from the Seljuk blob. They never collapsed and neither did the Fatimids. Hopefully the Mongols do some more damage to them - otherwise I have to create a few custom nations when I convert the save.

I really need a better name for my country. 'Wallachia' is somewhat lacking when you're a multicultural state with Vlach-Turkic heritage. :/

EDIT: I also have some flourishing Ethiopian/Nubian communities in my kingdom. Being one of two existing Coptic countries in the world means I get a large influx of refugees everytime someone expands into Abyssinia. :D

This is a very interesting campaign. I'm curious as to the number of levies you typically have currently? - I'm thinking of starting a campaign in the same general area and I'm not sure I'll have enough to resist a successful horde invasion.

As to the name - either: Khangate of Vlach or you can revive Dacia as a name... Mosia is still held by the ERE so that is not good. If you converted to Rus ethnicity you could consider something from the Kievian heritage, but as things stand Dacia is my favorite.

I first thought about something like Transnistria/Transcarpathia - something geographic. :/

If that is your desire, use what the official texts of the day used:
  • Official (Slavic) designations of the state were Muntenia (The Land of Mountains) and Țara Românească (Terra Romana, or The Romanian Country).
  • The traditional Hungarian name for Wallachia is "Havasalföld", or literally "Snowy Lowlands" (the older form is "Havaselve", which means "Land beyond the snowy mountains", its translation to Latin - Transalpina - was used in the official royal documents of Kingdom of Hungary).
I always get ideas from Wiki.

My great Seljuk Khaganate in 1132, under its 2nd ruler, Baybars the Great. His father, Alp Arslan the Great, gained the first Seljuk empire title as Khagan of Persia. Baybars now has four empire titles:

Persia's taking its sweet time to become Turkish, but Yemen and most of the Indus valley are now inhabited by Turks.

True to life, I suppose.

Persia would be hard to culture-convert- it was under Turkish or Mongol rule in one for or other for about 900 years yet preserved its culture, largely through the Persians running all the administrative apparatuses :p.

My Glorious Nestorian Christian Perso-Roman Empire, replaced the Saffarids with ruler designed Ashkayadas. Using a personal titles mod that adds an alternate Persian Empire title more fitting for Christianity rather than Zoroastrianism - it has the nestorian color, and a different flag that combines a Cross with the Derafsh Kaviani. I will now proceed to include a Roman motif to it too.

Just finished an observation run with ck2 plus from the Charlemagne start:

Was a interesting game, must commend the ck2 plus team as lots of empires rose and fell apart. No empire really held the balance of power to conquer the world.

Zunists lasted well into the 1100's but india actually started invading out of its usual constraints and at a time held all of persia and a bit of saudi arabia.

Byzantines died fairly early but a small duke in greece slowly built greece back up before reforming the byzantine empire. They because really massive and held a full circle around the entire black sea including there vanilla dejure lands.

Then the mongols came and went straight for the byzantines taking greece. Byzantines got split in two and slowly died after that. The latin empire is the remnants of the once great byzantine empire.

When the mongols split into golden horde, ilkhante and the other one, the ilkhanate just ended up inheriting all the hordes. They also became catholic so now most of the world is catholic except in the screenshot shown.

The Harashid arabian empire has only recently got fairly blobby.

The umayadds once held all of spain but where wiped out by a crusade. Oh and france is now castille.

All the screenshots for close ups of different areas and different map modes can be seen here: http://imgur.com/a/PIpcw

Thinking of making my capital Antioch.

If you want to be historic about it, you ought to put your capital in Baghdad. Even though ck2 for some reason likes to associate the Patriarchate of the East with Antioch, historically I think Nestorian or Syriac Christianity was far more of a Mesopotamian/Persian religion, and the actual Patriarchate of the East was located in the Ctesiphon area (which was the Persian capital) and later Baghdad. The Patriarchs of the East are apparently also called Patriarchs of Babylon. So both from a religious and cultural perspective, the Marzpanate of Baghdad would be the obvious choice for your capital.

The Great Golden Blob of Hispania.

Started this game as the Count of Asturidas de santillia and married myself a karling, waiting till dad died to inherit the kingdom then used my brother in laws to beat on the indidels, first i took serville and turned it into a republic to fund my crustades. That guy won a couple more wars but it wasnt until Hathus took the throne that the struggle turned as duchy after duchy fell and The mulsims split into rivals and catholic rebels liberated the land from the invaders.

Hathus was a great king, putting most of Iberia under his control but war was all that Hathus knew and his rule may have been successful by many standards but in truth it was his daughter who was his greatest achievement.

Maria the first of Hispania inherited a mostly unified land, whilst Iberia was not under the sole control of house Visgothia (I renamed it) She had a strong power base to work from. It was her outwards focus that made her the springboard that Hispania leapt from into greatness as she married a claimant to the byzantine empire, pressed his claim and get herself a powerful ally. She began the invasions into pagan land that saw much arable land gained to the empire. She gave birth to a son who maneuvered himself to become The emperor of the HRE (not even sure how as e did it by himself, i was voting for a genius child to be my heir until I noticed he had put himself on the throne lol) and her legacy was the triple crown that her son went on to sit, though he had to press his claim to the ERE.

From there it went into relatively predictible holy wars until I got where i am now. Along the way i culture converted to wlesh and i have 100k of 14;7;4;4 stacks, my vassals are all over the place and i might tidy them after i take india and convert to jain. ATM all that I have left to conquer is say 4/5s of india, norway and 3/4 of sweden
