where can you actually START as a nestorian? and isn't messesalian like 9001% more interesting than nestorians, or do they have some fun mechanics?
Socotra is Nestorian. One of the Mongols is Nestorian. There aren't many Nestorians, but they're there.

Here's my try so far as the saviour of the zoroastrian faith in the 2.2 patch, start date 867.

Hell of a lot harder because : you cannot really abuse the northern tribes now.
-Saffarids starts with 15000 troops while you only have 4500.
- Seljukid fell from the sky into my territory with 60k men by 970, while I had at most 24 k
- In this game the abassids conquered Espahan from a revolted zoroastrian duke ( from the saffarids). I got lucky when the abbassids disbanded a 15k troops within my territory (They were trying to help the saffarids at war withe the Indian lords). Managed to quickly take Espahan and Hamadan which swept the balance in my favor.

My empire:

All hail the Saoshyant! :

Rest of Europe :

PS : No decadence Caliph while he has been loosing every holy war and jihad for a 100 years is kinda BS.

Btw,I'm only one who nominated my son as next king, that means civil war when my present king dies?

Whoever gets the most nominations becomes king. I can't remember if you get claims on titles lost under elective or not, but either way you would be seeing someone else as king and have to overthrow them, so if you can't get other lords to vote for your son you are safer switching to a different succession law. Elective is brilliant in that it lets you choose your heir, but occassionally dangerous should the other electors vote for someone else.

Thanks for advice,I also thought about changing law of succession, that is probably my best option, even when I killed guy with most votes everyone still didn't want to vote for my son,it may be because I'm from Normandy.

Started in 1066 as the custom Duke of Barcelona, Ferdinand de Trastámara (oh yes), I married the second daughter of the duke of Aquitaine, and through the grace of God she became Duchess. I pushed into Muslim lands, and usurped the Kingdom of Aragon, which I re-christened, 'Catalonia'. Ferdinand II took swaves of islamic territory, and secure the Aquitanian crown, as well as putting his brother Alvar onto the Papal throne as Leo X. Sady his original heir, the would-be Ferdinand III was murdered by the English King in an attempt to allow him to inherit. Thankfully Ferdinand II remarried the Queen of Brittany and sired a son, Jaume. Before he could aquire the prestige needed, Ferdinand II died leaving an 11 year old Jaume to rule. Now 16 I am saving up the Prestige for my custom Empire.

I do need help, I need a good name for this empire, Catalans, Occitans, Basque, Aragonese, Castillian and Andalusian all living under one crown. Any suggestions?

I'm still new to all of this, having only 21 hour of gameplay, played a bit with different nations to get to know the game. Now I decided to play as William the Bastard(Conqueror).
s0zMjzk.jpg

First thing I did was marring my children to France and Scotland, plan is to create claims, after that I sent few gifts to my allies and after that called them to war,England and Norway fought and when they were finished I simply invaded, defeated Harold, took few city's ,defeated few more army's and took England for myself. At first a lot of people started creating factions,I assassinated all of them and now almost every vassal likes me,some more some less but only 2 of them have negative opinion of me.After that France changed king's and my claim came into play, went to war against France to putt my daughter in law on throne,France was at war with HRE so it was not very hard war,but I still lost some men.Won the war,my daughter in law is Queen of France,my granddaughter will be queen,I'm king of England,I have claims on Scotland and Wales, there is no factions. But as I said I'm new to all of this and any advice is welcome.Btw,I'm only one who nominated my son as next king, that means civil war when my present king dies?
Good job so far!

If only you nominate your child in Elective (which I assume you are using), and your child is not elected due to lack of votes, there is no civil war. You lose the vote so you lose the title. I think your child will get a claim on the title if he was second or third in the vote so you can take the land back by force.

You should try expanding to Ireland as well, use your Chancellor to fabricate claims since it's much easier and quicker than marriages.

Spain (or any variation on that like Hispania or whatever else) isn't too unbeleivable - you do have a larger portion of it than some who claimed the title of Emperor or King of Spain - although admittadely isn't the most unique or interesting option.

Alternatively, Occitania could work - Catalan and Occitan are both Occitan Romance languages. Occitan can, when used in a maximalist context, also refer to Catalan, while Catalan can't really be used to refer to Occitan. Catalonia works fine if you want to keep your empire's origins in mind, but if you want to give a little more representation to your empires expansion then Occitania represents a good chunk of the population.

If you want a sort of throwback to older times, some sort of reference to the Visigoths wouldn't be entirely unbeleivable either, in the same way that various rulers tried to legitimise their rule by referencing older polities, although I can't think of anything that actually sounds good. Visigothic Kingdom doesn't really work as the game will call it 'Kingdom of Visigothic Kingdom', while Visigothica just sounds forced. You could leave it as Visigoths, but in that sense it seems to describe the peoples rather than the land they occupied, which isn't entirely unbeleivable, should you see it as your King claiming legitimacy by descent or whatnot, but somehow seems less suitable.

1. Spain, Hispania (Latin), Espanya (Catalan)

2. Occitania (Catalan was an Occitan language too), Aquitania (Middle Ages name for the modern day Occitania region), Occitània (Catalan)

3. Roman Empire (Since you're an Empire, equal to the HRE and Eastern Roman Emperor), Romania (Latin & Catalan)

4. Keep calling Catalonia, using the name justification for Portugal continuing to name itself as such, despite expanding Southwards and going beyond the geographical limit of the name.

Ok,here is an update,I wouldn't update so often but as I said before, still new at this and every advice is welcome, also I think a lot of things changed.

CKozpLY.jpg

As you can see I expanded into France and Brittany, also took one region in Wales and Scotland.I changed my law of succession,in my opinion elective is best if you can get people to vote for you and in this situation that was impossible so change was needed.I'm using law where youngest child(male child?) gets titles. My oldest son Robert got claim on all of Brittany and I saw no reason why not to take it.Before that I also got claim on France duchy of Anjou(that is the name? :)) and France was fighting HRE and two rebel army's so that was a chance I won't let pass.I have claim on one more region in Wales so I'll get on that as soon as I handle factions, there is only one,its getting big but with little luck and skill my assassins can end it.Its for lower crown authority so even if they win its not end of the world.I plan to take Wales and maybe Scotland before going to Ireland.Any advices, what to do next?

Aquitania (Middle Ages name for the modern day Occitania region)

Actually it's the opposite. This region is still called Aquitaine today, and is only called "Occitania" in historical linguistics books. Or by a few independantists.

By the way I made the exact same Empire, but as I was Waldensian I called it "Empire of the true Faith".

Things have changed drastically since Jaume was 16, this is an older picture, he dies at 67. So here, he has reached the pinnacle of his reign, His Imperial Highness, Jaume, Emperor of Cataolonia, King of the Catalans and of Aquitaine, Conqueror of Jerusalem, Egypt and Sicily.

At this point the de Trastámara family rule the Empire of Catalonia, the Kingdoms of Brittany/Éire, Sicily, Cymru, Alba, Jerusalem, Egypt and the Papal State.

Ok,here is an update,I wouldn't update so often but as I said before, still new at this and every advice is welcome, also I think a lot of things changed.

Seems like you got it all pretty well nailed down there.

Septimania? Wasn't that an old roman province in the region?
