My first (and maybe only) 120k city. First city that I created a legit highway system, and it dealt with traffic pretty well. Traffic at ~85%, with a couple really bad congested areas. Probably my best looking city too with a healthy mix of gridlines and suburb-type areas. I still have a ton of room so if I really wanted to I could probably expand to 200k+, but my computer doesn't like 100k+ so I think I'll just leave it at this. Maybe I play with the highways a bit or try to improve my crap mass transit system that only ~5k people use. Other than that I think I'm done with the city.

The city before I expanded into the southern coastline and the mountain area in the north.

Here is a view of the city I'm currently struggling to expand with no mods, using a cool map I found on the workshop (Atlantis). At the moment it has about 35,000 peeps, cargo train congestion, a roundabout shaped like a stickman, four metro lines and four trams, a cable car all around the centre of the main island, an an old falt transformed into a nice canal with crazy land value.

I love lake side cites, would be tempted to add a water source in one of those valleys for a hydro dam.

Do you have the name of the map to hand?

That's Ryebluffs which is awesome. I did a lot of terraforming though, especially around the port area and waste treatment plant to the lower-right. Yeah, I know about those limits, especially the prop limit which ruined another city I was working on.

Yes grid patterns can be tedious. The other city I'm working on(above) has lots of non-grid elements, but it is exceptionally hard work. The problem is that the game is optimized for right-angles and linear, square lots. Angled non-grid streets require angled buildings, 45°, 135°, 30°, 90°. And they just aren't that many of them and the game zones-in angled lots with peculiar results most of the time and that requires extensive correcting. Everything has to be done by hand and requires heavy use of the prop and anarchy tools which often times don't yield the best results. Also most angled lot buildings are in the European/baroque style and that would look pretty out of place for a city say based in Southern Florida or Japan.
