Maybe not as awesome as most of the cities on this thread, but welcome to my crown jewel Niagara-by-the-Sea which recently reached a population of 50k cims. It probably doesn't sound like much but my old computer wouldn't handle much more than 20-30k so this is a new high for me!

My new WIP city, Montemare is a south European city clearly inspired by my hometown of Lisbon. There's still a lot of work ahead, but the historic center is mostly finished.

1. An overview of the historic downtown. You can see the river square (kinda inspired by Lisbon's pre-earthquake Terreiro do Paço), the old roman aqueduct (Lisbon also has a aqueduct, not Roman though) on the background in front of Ulm cathedral. To the rght is St. Stephens cathedral that sits on top of the royal stairway (that you'll see on the next pic) and behind it the medieval castle on top of the hill.

2. An older picture. A closer look at St. Stephen's cathedral and the royal stairway that connects the downtown areas by the river to the top of Montemare's hills. At the right you can see the dome of Holy Trinity's cathedral, very reminiscent of Lisbon's National Patheon.

3. A closer look of the Roman aqueduct that was adapted with a small road on top of it (safety clearly not a top priority here :D) Ulm's cathedral that dominates Montemare's skyline, the Feedom square (that was the old administrative area) and the west main railroad station.

My city, the areas south of the motorway on the mainland are being redeveloped. I basically set out to turn at least the larger island into a metropolis island. My eye for detail can be quite good, but my patience to expand that beyond a small town doesn't live it out.

Not as impressive as other cities on here, but the biggest one I've managed to build so far that hasn't collapsed under the weight of its own traffic, the Cims being poisoned by their own sewage or sufffering an uncontrollable death wave...

I wish that "plopping" building (or at least deciding which building would be built) could be part of the game engine... I did a lot of "grid" cities but this is the first one which looks quite realistic.

Here goes my city, maybe not the most beautiful but I like it xD I wanted to post it when it was fully done, but my old computer barely can handle it right now (260K cims). I wanted to do without any mods, monuments (like Archology) or cheats, just 9 regions (3x3).









Nothing like 5 nuclear power plants to have a nice and healthy food supply!



Cims are quite happy (more than 90%) and I don't have any problems with the traffic, I have some dense traffic areas but it doesn't stop moving. Many underground infrastructures for that.



Oh, and I think I have a well-developed transport system!

That's massively dense development.

Yup, I like logistic challenges... but I had to destroy my hydroelectric plant to increase the flow, my water pumps were taking that much water that they inverted the river flow and started to absorb the polluted water that should go river down. :D Still I think I could make even more efficient the layout I use (you waste like ~50 squares per "block", but I wanted to plan threes to make it a bit more "cute").

A pity my computer can't be played fluently with this population level. I have to wait until I buy a new one to keep developing the city.

After I broke my last city with an ill-advised mod, I've started afresh - this time going for more of a challenge on the Monaco map by MrMiyagi.

Still early in my playing career, so I'm developing Cities with different layouts and road formations to get a hang of the playing tactics and pitfalls, with varying success - this one surprised me, though...

Overall view. 49,191 Cims and growing, making it my most successful city to date. I think I work better with block structures rather than wiggly roads.

Couldn't just replace the original motorway junction with a ploppable asset, due to the close-by railway line, so had to bastardise the existing junction - but it works, leading to the high-denisty areas, and the tourist area round the main station.
