Explain, what you do and perhaps even use pictures!
I got this idea while searching through the internet for city skylines tutorials, which seem to be scarce right now.
I wouldn't say, that I know every single tutorial out there but I am interested in the techniques that you folks use to start a city. This topic is a bit important to me, because I think that how you start a city will affect how you plan it further on.
Well, lets say that we use Green Plains as a fixed map for this thread and you guys (as well as I) explaine in three or more steps how you develope your city. Pictures are pretty vital here I think, so please use them!
Step 1: The Road Network
Of course the road network would be a bit limited in the beginning but it is pretty important though, also the first thing one does....
Step 2: Zones and Services
Next pictured and explained step would be how you zone and place your first services (water, electricity, school, health, security)
Step 2.1: Raised Buildings
While S2 could have been a picture with just zones, this step give more information in terms of traffic, service using and taxes.
Step 3: Further Expansion
This step is pretty much up to you. Do you wanna explain how you want to expand the city - do it. If you already expanded then show us! This step yould not be too far away from step 2.1 or should show how the citiy developed in smaller steps.
I will add a city start aswell as soon as I have one made!
