Running the Steam Version of Black Plague Gold. Sound drivers and graphics drivers are updated to latest. The 1.0.1 patch doesn't work on the Steam Version.

The game crashes when I try to open the door and return from the Cells to the Messhall.

The same crash occurs if I try to loop around through the vent in the cell where the game begins. If I pass the vending machine, go into the vent, go across the broken floor section, tinker with the thermostat again, the game crashes in the vent during the load screen when about to enter the Messhall.

They don't give the solution there.

I had the same bug, and it was actually easy for me to correct in-game. I think it is cause because when you moved all the junk to access the door, you dropped said junk not far enough from said door. When you move back into the room. Your character appears "embodied" in the junk, => bug => End of game.

When I moved stuff FAR away from the door, it worked well.

Not sure it is this, but you should try.
 
BTW, someone (Fredrik ? More bugs => Less people recommending the game => Less money) should propose that solution on the other forum. I can't, 'cause I don't want to give my email to any other company than Paradox (and TellTalesGames).
