As many of you know culture and religion now impacts the way AE is spread. If as BYZ I take sunni ottoman provinces I get 0 AE on catholics because they will be wrong religious and culture group. Now here it gets interesting: In my current BYZ game I was fighting a coalition of Ottoman/Ragusa/Naples. In the peace screen I demanded 3 Ottoman Sunni provinces and Ragusa (Croatian Catholic). The interesting thing is that for taking Ragusa I still gained 0 AE against any catholic nation. It seems that because the Ottoman (sunni wrong culture group) gave me Ragusa the game didn't give me any AE for taking a catholic province.
Now if this is in fact true, and can be recreated then it would mean if that one could potentially conquer European provinces for 0 (or at least very low AE) if the war leader is a muslim who gives you the provinces.(tho it may also require a coalition).
