Hey all!
First of all i would like to thank all you great modders for making this game so good!

My problem is that I always build up carriers as germany, and usually have between 6-8 early CVs with improved cags at the time the war breaks out. (i totally skip subs. I want a germany that can battle the cw, but not this easy)

This gives that after grabbing poland and benelux and france in nov -39 I usually find myself with a CW without any surface fleet to speak of. This has become even worse in 1.3 were the agressive cw will attack and attack my raiding fleet even after loosing all of their carriers. (playing at normal/agressive)
the cost of adding 3cvs parallel is about the cost of building two less factories. This is not a big cost for taking out the cw fleet and making italy nr 2 on the seas in europe.

Basically the problem is that the low end carriers can hold high level cags. I have a suggestion to make this work, and need comment from the modders.

well i have 2 suggestions
1. remove cags and edit the cv's... not good but better than how it is today.
2. Make the strength of the cag generic only change the range
i.e
the great war carrier has´a strength rating of 0
early has sea attack 1
basic has sea attack 2
improved has sea attack 3
etc...
(the same change with the other cag dependent values except range)

all cags has a strength of 3 but the range differs like today.

this way a old carrier with a newer cag will have the advantage of range but not strength which can be explained as the old carrier can hold fewer planers but of newer model.

a new carrier with a old cag will have all the advantages of strength but not of range. which can be explained as it holds old planes but have room for alot more of them.

the latter idea is easily implementable and will not make germany such a powerhouse it easily can be today.
Comments please

The unreality problem is worst than that. As the Japanese, I finally achieved turbojet fighters around mid '41. I didn't scrap the Hosho or Akagi, because I happen to like those ships. Lo and behold... Hosho and Akagi are fielding jets in their CAG's! Wholly unrealistic.Even the mighty Essex' required major rebuilds to field Jets. Oh well... it made my favorites a little more useful around the home islands.

I don't think it should be completely impossible to upgrade the CAGs, I agree that it shouldn't be possible to put turbojets on a CV I though.
How about having a maximum CAG level at 2 or 1 + the level of the CV?

That sounds better. The Saratoga was operating F4U's in '45 (right before we blew her up at Bikini!!! What a waste!!!)

Hmm, i don't think the game engine would support that without alot of work.
But if it would, then that is the best way. I just feel it is boring to be able to beat the cw fleet so easily.

I have tried tweaking the carrier/cag values and I think it is plausible to do that by changing the values of the carriers and cags.
