I'm thinking about possibly buying this game, could I have some suggestions on how worth it it is, and can I get some idea of how stable/enjoyable it is? Maybe a basic run down of the game in players views rather than the company run down.
Cagliostro said:The latest patch makes it very stable. It's debatable how enjoyable it is. There are a number of annoying bugs which can mess up your game. However, the game itself I find very entertaining.
Some people feel like there's "not enough to do". To a large extent the game is about shaping your dynasty and organizing your realm, more than it is about conquest.
I believe that upcoming patches will dramatically improve gameplay, but there are a few things which seem sort of unimprovable - namely that it can be hard to find the information you seek without using another program to sort through saved games - and the fact that you can search save games for information hidden in game makes MP exploitable.
I recommend it, though not without reservations. It is fun, but buggy. Some people find it hideously frustrating; some are basically happy but want a few things fixed. I think you'd find people all the way from one extreme to the other on this board.

Casus Belli said:Well, the difficulty depends on who you choose to play. If you choose to play the King of England, you should have a quite an "easy" task of building an empire, if you choose to play the Count of Nowhere, you will have a damn hard time doing anything. In other words, it will be as challenging as you want it to be.
As for empires, in my experience a huge empire requires a lot of time and management - keeping an eye on your vassals - especially dukes, so they dont lose all their vassals while becoming pneumonic or schizophrenic...
Jack99 said:Sounds like there's a lot of new things to figure out/learn in this game compared to other Paradox titles.
Casus Belli said:Lots of things are very similar to EU2, but this is a "dynasty with lands" management game - you play a character that holds lands and titles, not a country.
And then there's the whole "dynasty management thing", finding yourself a good woman to produce heirs etc...
Its different indeed, but i find i very enjoyable - opionions do differ tho.![]()

MichOrion said:For the most part I enjoy the game. It can be slow sometimes, but that's what the exteremly fast setting is for. It has it's fair share of problems, which will hopefully be solved in upcoming patches. My opinion is that if you liked EU and not Vic or HoI, that you will probably like CK. In my case, I felt the game well worth the forty-whatever I spent on it.
Jack99 said:I liked HOI and Vicky, they had their issues, and still have some issues but it seems the company has taken to heart the plight of the customer and tried to fix the problems with their products before they release them.
MichOrion said:P'dox like to get the games out and then fix them in time for a later North American release. I don't think that CK is complete yet, but look how long it took for EU. Can you even buy it yet in the US? I'm in Michigan and ad to order from Paradox. I would recommend this option if the game is not avalable near you. It took 7 days to reach me, very good for coming from Sweden. It takes bills and letters longer than that to get to me at the end of the earth where I live.
Jack99 said:Guess what? I'm in Michigan too. Sadly I don't have a credit or debit card to order online. Any idea when the US release will be?
MichOrion said:I haven't paid much attention to the date 'cause I already have my copy.Look here for release dates: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150149
Jack99 said:Looks like it's supposed to be tomorrow. Perfect, I'll have money to buy it this friday. Just curious, what area of Michigan are you from?
MichOrion said:Don't hold your breath, where I live it takes longer than that. If you are near a metro area you'll be OK. I live in the upper peninsula near Marquette, I'm originally from the Detroit area. How about you?
Jack99 said:A song fits my movement patterns, "I've been everywhere man!" But currently I live near Traverse city, it should be at the mall by friday. I have faith in the big brown machine.
