Hello!!

I've never played HoI before, and I have been giving HoI2 a thought lately. A very old-fashioned computer have limited me to play EU2, and even that game was running slow on my machine. This autumn, I have great plans of investing in a new and shiny computer! :D (after all these years).

My questions to you are therefor: will it take me almost a year to learn how to play the game (rather decently) from scratch (as it took me with EU2), or will my long experience as a EU2 player help me to learn and understand HoI2 quicker?

yours Ulyanov. :)

Your EU2 experience ought to give you a "great" advantage playing HOI. Though as no-one has seen the outcome of the developmentproces there might be some major changes to the gameplay and the gamecontext.
As EU2 goes on in many years and the fact that HOI2 probably "only" last from '36 to 48/49 the style of game is very different. Playing one of the majors in HOI1 always was focussed on researching the first 3 years and then armybuilding. But when the war starts the game changes pace, sometime playing HOI1 the first 3 years could take 2 hours (realtime) and conquering Poland could take the same time.

I think you will learn HOI2 much sooner and be good at it sooner than EU2. partly because you have played EU2 , but more importantly Paradox is looking to make a simpler kind of game with a much more accesible interface than previous games, so it might still take some time too good at but i think you will learn it much faster. That together with a good manual and maybe even a tutorial and your home free :D
