I'm currently very annoyed that Unity becomes 100% useless after the Tradition trees are maxed out, which happened early in my game since I'm pacifist and spiritualist and have gone very Unity-heavy.

As a stopgap measure to keep Unity relevant to my game, I want to add some sort of method to convert Unity into Influence, but I have no idea what commands and conditions in the scripting language are capable of doing this.

For example, is it possible to make an edict cost unity instead of influence, or to make some sort of event decision to convert X unity for Y influence? I just have no idea what options are available here in terms of unity in scripting.
