Is Hearts of Iron 3 Collection the best way in? Seems you get a decent amount for the price. Also is Their Finest Hour worth picking up straight away?

I think if you buy HoI3 separately and then add the "Hearts of Iron 3 DLC Collection" you get "Their Finest Hour" Expansion included for a similar or cheaper price on steam.

Or if your not in a hurry to play mark in your wishlist so you can get an email notification when the next sale is. I suspect their summer sale will have quite substantial discounts, and it is usually around July.

If you are a true Grog, you will not need the sprite packs. The counters will be all you need or want. However, You will need all of the expansions -- Semper Fi, For The Motherland, and Their Finest Hour. TFH changes the combat system to add piercing and changes how combined arms bonus is determined. It is a vast improvement. Also, check out the mods section of the Hoi3 forum -- BlackICE, HPP, TRP. Don't forget to check out the "Other Mods And Projects" section too. There is some really good stuff there.

Rushed imnto it and got the Collection..as you say I don't want the sprites. Oh well. Had a couple of hours on im and enjoyed it so far. I do need to check out some decent tutorials though.

Just checked the HOI 3 DLC Collection on Steam and it was ten pounds more than the HOI Collection on Gamersgate. So if I buy TFH seperate it will still be cheaper than if I wnet and got it in the Steam collection.

They aren't compatible though... so either steam or GG.

Another good way to go if looking to sample the HOI franchise for the first time is Darkest Hour.
