Greetings.

I am trying to create a train line between 3 stations. For some reason, I cannot get it to run in both directions between the 3 stations. When I try, the behavior gets really funky in that it will run between 2 stations in both directions, but when I add a third, it makes the whole line only run in one direction and erases the activity in both directions.

The directions say click from the starting train station to the next and then click back to form a line. When I do that, it only goes in one direction if it is more than 3 stations. This is really getting frustrating as this is holding up my game play.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I created a train line between four stations in a line, going both ways, without difficulty. Will it not allow you to complete the loop, or are you talking about the train behavior?

Is it possible for the trains to turn around at the end stations / stations where you order the trains to go back along the same track to reach the next station? Trains need little rail 'loops' in order to turn, best as I've seen.

If your entire network is one large loop, perhaps it is Skylines' pathfinding that causes trouble - if one station is closer along a different track than you intended, it might try to set the route in that direction (i.e. shortest route). Bus lines behave that way, at least.

If you look closely at the end of the track on a station, you'll see that the lines cross. The trains can reverse direction and cross to the other side of the tracks, so there is no need for a loop. One of my stations is on a dead end, and my trains do this all the time.

Both the freight station and the passenger station, when connected to track, apply diamond crossovers at each end of the station, eliminating the need for a loop. The same thing goes for the metro, although this is not seen. You have to add stations in sequential order toward the last stop, and then complete the line at the initial station to complete the line.

If a shorter route presents itself, (i.e. the route continuing from the last station is shorter back towards the initial station) then the line will affix to that route. You can solve this by continuing the line backwards, adding stations on the opposite track. This helps cims get to and from their destination.

The game the Cities and rail enthusiast need a nice downtown central railway station :)

There are 2 kinds of central stations, those where all lines starts/ends and a pass-through station.

Amsterdam Central Station is a typical pass through station.

Helsinki Central Station is a typical start/end station - where lines do not pass through.

Tampere central railway station is a pass-through station.

How can we be able to make our city centrums and downtowns without a central railway station that would have tracks spanning to multiple system of smaller terminis.

Honestly, theres so much potential with different options for Rail that I definitely think it would be worth a DLC.

One thing I would personally love in addition to a larger 'central' station is a 'commuter station' - smaller station, can also be placed elevated. Acts as a possible stop on train routes, but does not attract tourist/cargo trains, which must go to a regular/central station to offload. This kind of station would be ideal for inter-suburb/district 'light' railways. Even cooler if we can tie it in directly with metro systems.

Apart from that there's all the fairly 'obvious' things like one way tracks, etc.
