Will there be an option to participate in funding this game via preorder or such and gaining access to early alpha/beta testing stages?

I don't think they even started making this yet...

As stated in this thread, game is not developed by Paradox. Many games Published by Paradox and their former store GG ARE from Indie developers.

If developement has not yet begun, this is great opportunity to reserve money and feedback from potential players!

Besides this approach is getting popular out there so maybe there will be chance...

I agree--sites like Kickstarter are great for funding some games and I hope it helps usher in an indie game renaissance. Digital distribution also makes it easier for independent teams to self-publish.

But in this case, a traditional publishers like Paradox will take care of the funding, marketing and distribution. Otherwise why bother with a publisher at all?

Now, I love Paradox but a couple of their recent releases have been not-the-best. If Cartel turns out to be a dud, I'm sure we'll see an indie Syndicate remake show up on Kickstarter or Desura to pick up the reigns.

Hopefully it won't come to that!

The point of Alpha funding (like Minecraft, Towns) or Kickstarter (Double Fine, etc) is to bypass publishers. So I'd say the probability that it would be used for a game that is going to be published by Paradox is vanishingly small.

Mount and Blade started like this [before being brought under the PI umbrella] - so technically, PI could tap into that know-how
