hi guys, im trying to undestand the naval combat system but i cant see how position is correctly used.
im confused about units position (UP) and fleet position (FP) showed in tooltip.
FP is calculated by average of min and max positioning with modifers (leadership...
i found this in the forum from old post of hoi2
as i saw the position give the posibility of right shoot and the posibility of shoot over screen or capital (positioning 30 give 30% of shoot on a ship, 30% on screen and 70% on capital, am i wrong)
thats right, but i dont undestand wich position UP or FP is used them, more over working on ships on range.
too, i want to undestand the misc variable:
# Screen or Capital ships targeting in naval combats. -1 : Use both fleets positioning; >0 : Use a random number up to (THIS-1) and compare it to other fleet's positioning (target capital ships if positioning is lesser)
-1 #100
what happens with values -1, 50 and 100, if its compare and the random is minor, what happnes? does it says if the shoot impact the objetive?
is lone unit position used in any time in combat or alwais is used the fleet pos?
thanks for support!

Formula for the (initial) positioning, after doing the math some months back is;
39 - thestackingpenaltyoffleet + (leaderskill * 10) + (randomnumber between 0 and 20)
+ whatever you get from positioning doctrines for individual ships.
It doesn't get negative, but I think, that if you drop below 0, you end up starting with 'something between 0 and 10' ...
