After the Portugese crown Event, and Spain chose to vassalize me, funny things happened, and I wonder what are bugs, if any.
1-I lost my Royal Marriage with Spain
2-But I kept my RM with England (Could the Spanish-English have an effect here, they are at +200)
3-I lost a level of stability per other RM I had and that was broke, but when other countries become vassal of a third contry and a RM gets canceled, there is no stability penality.
4-I learned my vassalisation from the text log, as opposed to an historical note as I am used from the game in such events.

4- is not a bug; there is no mechanism in the game to notify the victim of an event, only the nation who got the actual event. We could have a blank explanatory event for POR triggered by the SPA event, but we are no longer allowed to add any new events.

The rest I don't know about.

some events will trigger other events that will trigger some things for you. I believe this was fixed for 1.06, or at least fixed partially.

Ok, so I have to pay attention to events around me, thats feasable.
But what about the stability hits when braeking RM to become a vassal?
Happened to me again when I chose to become an English vassal. -6 stability is a eavy price to pay for 4 factories.
This might actually be bug #172 not fully fixed, beacause It is still not explicitly mentionned that Portugal will become a vassal.

Is the rule that "no new events" can be added, or simply that "no new event texts" can be added?

If it is the latter, we could simply use Spain's event description for event title & text, and make use of some option text of the "Ok" or "Drats!" sort (there are a few) by using said option name (dunno which number that would be).

Here is my idea then:

* The event title and text from the Spanish triggering event are used.
* The "ok" option (a) imports the text from some other option that has "ok" as option description (more complex wordings risk being inaccurate). Alternatively "accept vassalization" or similar meanings could be used, if there are such option text strings available.
* The "no" option (b) uses some other piece of text along the lines of "no". It breaks the vassalization by Spain.


If it's too hard to find a suitable text for the (b) option, it can be excluded; the player and the AI are, after all, still free to break the vassalization through regular means...

Is there any event that has "Freedom!" or something similar as text for one of the options?
Where can I find out what the free event numbers are (to avoid unfortunate double-use of two event numbers)?

You can see all text used in text.csv and event numbers in the major_TAG.txt and flavor_TAG.txt files. Just do a search of the EU2 dir and subdirs for files containing your proposed event # to make sure of no dupes.

I don't understand. I thought the point was to have the POR player notified of his own vassalisation. You need POR events to do that. Did you mean to have country=POR in these?

OK, done. I'm a little uncomfortable with the new ability POR has to refuse this previously enforced event, I have to say, even at -6 stab cost.
