Iberia and Hispania are the same thing, why does It make a difference which name is used?
Plot twist: iberians were the populations of the eastern and southern part of the iberian peninsula (not the whole region then!), while the western part (portugal) was populated by lusitanians, a completely different kind of natives, called by the romans celt-iberians, which was also wrong because they were completely celts and not iberians at all. Only under the romans the whole hispania got unified, with its provinces hispania citerior (south) hispania ulterior (north) and hispania lusitania, baetica, tarraconense etc, and the romans used hispania as the name for the whole region, because they knew that there was difference between iberians and western pops

Because we were rivals and even enemies for long periods of time but that was ages ago so that does not necessarily mean that today's Portuguese hate the Spanish; at least no one around me thinks that way.
I was talking about RL Portugal not the in-game one or decision; why would Portugal form Spain and keep its name? A "little" weird considering that Portugal is already Portugal don´t you think?
I think it would be cool if a portugal formed spain had a nice green colour and a differnt flag than a Castile formed spain, I also think an Aragon formed spain should be different too though. Maybe it's just me.
I can get behind the idea of a changed flag. Ideally the flag should be set up so it amalgamates the flags of the two nations who formed it, so you could have either a Portugal/Castille flag or a Portugal/Aragon Flag.

I've always figured that Portugal could form 'Spain' because historically Portugese Kings called themselves Emperor's of Spain?
As for Scotland forming Great Britain; for strictly flavour reasons, you really should be allowed to hold onto Edinburgh as capital should you choose. Although you can do this manually, it's more interesting if the choice of capital caused more issues for 'Union' countries. As historically, Scots and Irish didn't like being ruled from London just as I'd imagine English wouldn't have liked rule from Edinburgh. 'Component' cores should be important for Union countries.
I've always wondered if Ireland unified and conquered say; Scotland. Brian Boru called himself, Imperator Scottorum. I'm wondering if a Union between Scotland and Ireland would have been called Scotia considering that Scotti was the Roman word for Ireland. Scottish should also probably be made into two cultures, lowland and highland Scots.

Having a custom flag creator/editor available so that you can always change flags to match your desires or historical interpretations wouldn't be a horrible DLC.
They can call this union whatever they want, I don't care, it's fictional. In real life, the Portuguese kings tried several times to grab Castile (and vice-versa), though it was Aragon who got her. Spain was formed in 1715 by Philip V. Before it was just a collection of titles under a single ruler.

You should switch the green with blue and white. Also, there should be a crown on top of the middle shield.

Yeah, quite funny hearing people wanting a Portuguese spain to be green as if this is the sign of Portuguese-ness. Kingdom of Portugal = Blue. CivIV got it right.
Agreed to blue and white. It is the imperial Portuguese colors. Google the imperial Portuguese flag for an example. I actually like that flag better than the modern Republic one!
