Hey guys! Had a hard fail as Portugal that saw my allies France and Aragon end up totally useless in my war against Castile which ended up with the loss of northern Portugal. As Caribas finished during the war I decided to bail to the new world instead of playing the wreckage of Portugal that remained.

The main question I've got is which of the handful of colonial Formable nations is worth going after? I've never played as a colony before.

I looked like only the United States, West Indies (Which I can already nearly form), Vermont, Texas, Quebec, Canada, Brazil and Mexico have unique ideas. Does anyone have any experience with them? Are the base Colonial ideas better?

Thanks!

*Edit: Added Mexico and Brazil

I like Caribean's national ideas, I play it time to time. Brazil also looks promising but I have never played it personally. If you wanna play as Brazil, you might want to colonize most of Brazil quickly. It will save time later on, as other nations won't come to Brazil region later on (for colonization)

The US is maybe the country in the new world who have more mechanics than all others.
That's also the only country i tryed.

(Allied castille, became his PU while crashing my eco/mana to upgrade my colonie, PU broke and i sold all my european land to France who was another player.)

Doesn't Portugal specifically have an event to flee to Brazil if European Portugal is lost or reduced? Where you tagswitch to Brazil, move your capital to the New World, and retain your colonies?

unites states has the unique advantage of being able to use the white house wonder which is pretty decent (especially if you're playing a republic).

i also played texas in one campaign and liked their national ideas. found them prettry strong and also somewhat unique (land move speed is very rare and i don't know if there even is another tag that has their religious tolerance idea which gives them full religious unity regardless of province religions.

haven't played any of the other post colonial tags
